Now that's a value added package Starforce presence in the US version is confirmed. It came free along with a nifty poster and a copy of SR1.
  2. Arcanum, worse than the Infinity Engine

Good luck with that. Have you been there recently?
  3. Game News Dungeon Lords skillz

www.m-w.com anyone? Then there's this from the Magic Skills: And to demonstrate the intelligence of the target audience: Wonder what Wonko the Sane would say.
  4. Star Wolves - not happy with AI

One Q. Is it possible to save during a mission?
  5. RPG Design: Keeping a level ahead

Designs on the designated designer I'd also ditch HP advancement. Characters should have the chance to develop means of protecting themselves, evading attacks, and avoiding danger in general as reflective of increasing skill and ability. I'd add in a pain threshold. Pass it and the character...
  6. X2 -vs- Freelancer

Vindictive vindaloo Both should be available. One idea for the skill tree could be use of basic skills or ship components cause skill tree items to become available. Basically as you practice something you eventually get the opportunity to upgrade it in new ways or simply become more...

More salvage and experience than the demo? As the third demo mission I found I was hard pressed for adequate equippage at the start, and that was after taking out the pirate base in Demo Mission Two, which yielded a nice bit of booty.
  8. X2 -vs- Freelancer

Nope. Looking for a solid space sim with trading, pirating, intrigue, lots'o ships, lots'o equipment, etc. First person EVN or Beta Blocker kinds of stuff, aka Frontier/Elite/et al.
  9. Star Wolves

Frivolous pantsuits Ex, How deep in is the Pirate Blockade mission (assuming it is the one from the demo where you can pick up Astra)?
  10. X2 -vs- Freelancer

    Thanks all. *pockets money*
  11. is the "ending" the most important part of a game?

Most important is compostion - how well the component parts of a game work together to pull off the project. This includes narrative structure, which includes endings. An ending should be bittersweet - relief that I've succeeded coupled with regret that it is done. Too much of the former and...
  12. X2 -vs- Freelancer

At this point both games are available for sub-$20. Are either worth it in the not so humble views of Codex denizens? Neither seems to get any consistent love and both clearly have their detractors here, but is that at full-price or any price?
  13. Star Wolves

no dollars for you Holds promise, but I'm waiting. The demo raised more questions than it answered and the fact that the publisher apparently killed the english language site and forum before the demo release annoys me.
  14. Game News Frater From Rebelmind

It's a play off Reblimind's earlier game mentioned in the first psot by Ex.
  15. GameSpy Dissapointed By Troika

painted lead or leaded paint Without the numbers (and presumably somebody at Atari did have the numbers) it is reasonable to make the assumption that creating a series of games based on older D&D modules would sell. For one, it is really young boomers and a sizable chunk of X-ers* who would...
