    Essential Space games

FreeSpace 2 without a doubt gets the brofist (and an honorary mention to FreeSpace 1). In fact, I give it double brofists for the fact that because it was open sourced years ago, we have the "FreeSpace 2 Source Code Project" which has allowed it to not only work properly on modern systems...

Metro Exodus Enhanced - out of the metro tunnels and back on Steam

Although I agree that the typical gamer is not capable of being consistent in their outrage, we're not all walking clichés. I'm old(er). I don't buy many games anymore due to increased responsibilities, reduced free time and having "see it all" to the point where most games just aren't that...

    Alien: Isolation

The market has spoken. Incline isn't financially rewarding. :dead:

Mass Effect Mass Effect Series Retrospective by Shamus Young

The comments in the article are quality. Especially the mocking of the Cardinal's speech during combat and how badly the Reaper dialog in Mass Effect 1 would have be written with Andromeda's writers. YOU EXIST BECAUSE WE ALLOW IT. YOU WILL END BECAUSE WE DEMAND IT. YOU INACCURATE STUPID.

Far Cry New Dawn - is now an RPG

I found Far Cry 5 OK at first but rapidly became dull, to the point where I gave up on it after eliminating the first Seed family member. By this point I think the game had shown me all there was to see, and while the gameplay loop was somewhat decent, I just got bored. Pacing was total shit - I...

Rage 2 from Just Cause devs

Hmm, I disagree with the first sentence but agree with the second. I dunno which reaction button to pick! Balanced it is.

Far Cry New Dawn - is now an RPG

Oh yeah. Post-apocalyptic games have been quite the neglected genre recently.

What games did you complete in 2018?

If I only count games I've completed for the first time in 2018 (i.e. not including replays): - Dishonored 2 - Death of the Outsider - Prey As for replays, - XCOM 2 - Doom - Quake - Quadrilogy run of the Deus Ex series (not including The Fall) Probably some others there but meh. It's mostly...

    Fallout 76 reception

It ain't going F2P: https://twitter.com/bethesda/status/1087775312849571841 Also that "xGTExDopey" guy in the twitter comments has an appropriate username for being such a fan of this piece of shit.

Why do people accept Steam but hate other gaming clients?

OK, maybe things have changed since I last played around with the option. I generally just leave it on the default ticked "Use recommended performance settings" option and assume Firefox knows what's best.

    Incline Chris Avellone Appreciation Station

Chris seems like a cool dude.

Why do people accept Steam but hate other gaming clients?

Bad idea, things get a lot more sluggish (plus CPU usage increases substantially) when hardware acceleration is disabled. Google Street View turns to shit. Even things like YouTube use noticeably more CPU when hardware acceleration is disabled. Offloading that crap onto the GPU is a better idea...

Trigger the codex with a statement.

Fortnite will be regarded higher than Quake 3 or Unreal Tournament in the annals of gaming history.

Why do people accept Steam but hate other gaming clients?

That's fair. I guess part of it will be for someone who's got say Doom 2016 on Steam and Doom Eternal on Bethesda's launcher, or maybe the first two Mass Effects on Steam and the third one on Origin, that sort of stuff. I believe you can permanently delete games off of Steam now though, which...

Why do people accept Steam but hate other gaming clients?

Possibly, but according to a lot of various reddit and forums posts I've read regarding the issue of multiple game clients, while some people talk about resource usage, the vast majority of people complain about the management issue of multiple clients. They like Steam because it keeps...
