KickStarter Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes - From Suikoden creators

It's a shame, as the animations for them are pretty good. Hopefully they can patch in something to fix them as you can easily get more damage from two single attacks than a combo. It feels like they've added a 1.5x damage modifier but it's only calculating it off one character.

KickStarter Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes - From Suikoden creators

As a massive fan of Suiko 1, 2 and V - this is pretty much everything I wanted this game to be, within realistic expectations. It has that Suikoden feel, which is a little different from all the other JRPG's and absolutely nails a lot of the elements - especially the music and sounds. I'm not...

Incline Butthurt Dungeon: Thac0's Ultimate Blobber List

Good list. The generic block for Gold Box games probably does need expanding as titles like Pools of Radiance, while classic, just don't hold up against the best in the series such as Pools of Darkness. Some sections hold up better than others too. The 3D blobber exploration parts for some...

Bard's Tale The Bard's Tale IV: Barrows Deep - Director's Cut

*reads last few pages* *notes that most people are commenting on graphics rather than gameplay 'improvements'* *reprioritises a Grimoire run-through instead* It says a lot about BT4 that the official forums have barely registered any activity in the last six months despite the Directors Cut...

Bard's Tale The Bard's Tale IV: Barrows Deep - Director's Cut

*keeps fingers crossed that it's not shit any more* I was a higher tier backer of BT4 and it is easily my biggest disappointment in terms of Kickstarters so far. Hell, there are probably games I backed that I didn't play that I remember more fondly. There is no way that this game is going to...

    Wizardry The Wizardry Series Thread

Yeah, did 6 on release without any guide. However, graph paper maps were my friend. There's probably only a couple of genuinely tricky areas in terms of progression. I'm sure 7 is doable as well, although I certainly found myself a lot more frustrated. Wiz 6 is pretty much on-rails, but 7 can...

Community The RPG Codex's Top 101 PC RPGs (With User Reviews!)

Wizardry VI waaaay too far down the list, no doubt due to the kids preferring the sandboxy shit in Wiz 7 and 8. Fuck the weak graphics - it's still the best in the series. Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky in there but no Suikoden 2? Fucking twats. Don't you know it came out on PC in...

KickStarter Phoenix Point - the new game from X-COM creator Julian Gollop

The original Chaos was one of the greatest hot-seat multiplayer games of all time. Hell, I still play it occasionally and it's 35 years old. Like Chess, it's simplicity was it's power but I'm under no illusions that the player base wasn't pretty small in comparison to say Elite from the same...

KickStarter Phoenix Point - the new game from X-COM creator Julian Gollop

Snapshot was mostly based out of Bulgaria before Phoenix Point was announced, with a lot of the Chaos Reborn team hailing from there - so I'd imagine that was factored into the costs. What has hit them in the pocket is almost certainly being about a year late (so far). A year of paying...

KickStarter Phoenix Point - the new game from X-COM creator Julian Gollop

What can I say? I've enjoyed what I've played. The targeting mechanic and ballistics are vastly superior to anything in Firaxis games and the boss encounters are genuinely epic as you get massive enemies smashing through buildings to get to you. The squad mechanics are excellent and the system...

KickStarter Phoenix Point - the new game from X-COM creator Julian Gollop

Preface - I played the fuck out of Rebelstar Raiders (especially 2), I played the fuck out of Chaos on the Spectrum, I played the fuck out of X-Com and indulged a fair amount of time in various other Gollop games. Obviously I backed this game, but my terrible experience with being a higher tier...

    The Amazing X-COM Thread

You'll probably want to check out Phoenix Point then - it's shaping up really well to be the true successor to the 90s classics.

Bard's Tale The Bard's Tale Trilogy - remaster by Krome Studios

A thief was a requirement for BT3 but only for certain major encounters. To be honest, they've always been pretty lame.

Bard's Tale The Bard's Tale IV: Barrows Deep - Director's Cut

I don't think it'll ever work properly, if it's ever added at all. There are environmental hazards in the dungeons (timed spikes, swinging axes etc) which are clearly designed with free form movement in mind. There are plenty of puzzles that rely on free look, which you'd have to turn off and...
