Community NEW OFFICIAL RPG CODEX GOTY 2015 POLL CREATED - All citizens vote

Wow, I haven't heard of, let alone played most of this crap. On that entire list I've only played Warhammer Quest and The Quest, both on iOS and both a couple years ago; granted I think those are both pretty solid games. Of course, there are a few games on that list that I'll get around to...

Is roleplaying multiple characters in an RPG LARPing?

I view the characters as inanimate, they are the tools I use to progress the game; however, with that said, they are often very easy to anthropomorphize. In Fallout my character had a background, he was the vault dweller and was good with small guns and science, but that character made all of...

    Eternity Arcanum called shots.

For fucks sakes... Arcanum Players Guide (pg.60) "Called shots are more difficult to perform than ordinary attacks... and thus incur a certain penalty (*Specific penalties are not noted). Any Called Shot which does connect with the target... has a greater chance of being a critical success...

    RPS Top 50 RPGs

As much as I love them I wouldn't consider Deus Ex or System Shock RPG's and as for FTL... how is that in any fucking way what so ever a role-playing game? Hell Dark Souls stretches the boundaries but FTL is just flat out not an RPG.

    KickStarter Shenmue 3

So, in the series you can carry over the save state between games (money, stats, skills, choices, I don't know stuff...) but only in the Japanese version since in the English speaking world the series released across two different systems; with Shenmue coming out on the Dreamcast and Shenmu 2 on...

RPG Codex - Top 50 WORST RPGs YOU'VE PLAYED vote thread

Seemed like shit; so I didn't bother to play it. Although, the third game has ever so slightly piqued my interested.

Bladestorm: Nightmare on PC - RELEASED

Sweet, I enjoyed the 360 version. Unfortunately, my disk was one with the dreaded 4 star bug; making the game corrupt and unplayable a few hours into the campaign. Nevermind, the pirate copy isn't working for me and I'm not paying the developers twice for a game that I already own and can't...

RPG Codex - Top 50 WORST RPGs YOU'VE PLAYED vote thread

NWN (OC) - It's the classic tale... I got bored hunting for bandits or some such by the docks, about 20min. into the game, and just called it quits. Ultima 9 - A friend had the disk laying around, neither of us had ever played it, or any other Ultima game for that matter, and figured we'd give...

Design flaws of Ocarina of Time (Sequelitis)

No, I stopped bothering with Zelda during the 64 era, I actually stopped bothering with consoles entirely, and while I enjoyed all three of the early titles everytime i've gone back to dabble with the series, Minish Cap and a bit of Windwaker, it's been mostly a disappointment. I'm sure that one...

Design flaws of Ocarina of Time (Sequelitis)

Agreed that his Sequelitis is the only decent material he produces... that said I agree with him on both Castlevania and Zelda. The newer Castlevania games (Metroidvanias), while fun, I love the DS games, are filled both with grind for the sake of grind and a trivial difficulty curve. Zelda...

Review RPG Codex Review: The Occult Chronicles and Elder Sign: Omens

Elder Signs really is excellent and has been a staple of my gaming time for years; though, I'm a fan of board game mechanics.

Skyrim is worse than Oblivion in every way

Haha... and will you make similar changes to every flawed skill in the game. After all, that particular tweak won't address the problems with the other skills; will new tweaks need to be applied to every skill? Jumping, casting, etc...? That design is nothing but a pile of exceptions to a rule...

Skyrim is worse than Oblivion in every way

When such a convoluted 'fix' is needed, the skill, and possibly the skill system, was too broken to begin with and needs a total redesign.

    Sid Meier's Civilization: Beyond Earth

I haven't played a Civ game since Alpha Centauri and it doesn't look like this game is going to change that.

Microsoft invite you to attend the Atari Landfill excavation on April 26

ET get's a bad rap. It had a screwed up development cycle even for back then and the guy who threw it together was actually a really solid developer. Interesting story.
