Which RPGs surprised you that they're actually great?

Gotta go with Wizardry 8. I wasn't expecting much (especially after an entire day of trying to make this shit work) and got a really nice game instead.

Good one. They really have no shame. Well, that explains it then. Good thing too, since they're both very, very decent.

What do you want to improve in RPGs?

I want to stop with the open world shit already. Open worlds are good for MMO's. Normal RPG's are hurt by making them open world, since the story becomes dilluted and players run around, doing stupid shit, instead of focusing on the plot, which is kinda the main, fucking point of any RPG.

I love dark and gritty urban landscape so Deus Ex and Bloodlines work for me. When it comes to fantasy, I liked Skyrim a lot, since I'm also a sucker for all sorts of frozen hell holes.

Bethesda should just concentrate on making games like Dishonored and new Wolfenstein. They're great and interesting. Their RPG's however are a load of crap. Seriously, they've fucked up the Fallout series. How do you get away with that?

    Favorite type of RPG

Definetly the first option. It helps with immersion, which is, in my opinion, the most important thing in any RPG. Open world games tend to dillute their storylines overtime. That's why I have so many problems with getting into them.

Fallout: great game after bad first impression

The early Fallout games had some of the worst combat possible. I loved the story, dialogues and interactions, but the combat... my god.
