    oh of course, you can play original doom like that fine, no problems but when it comes to much harder mods released more recently... you can run into a lot of problems. like with epic 2

    yes but in reverse, and of my own making. used to quicksave in doom a lot. now i quicksave too little. kind of ruined the game for me.

    there's also the fact that they are the undisputed monopoly which is good for convenience, but kinda shit for a better service. i mean, yeah, gog is going along well enough and is an option for many games, but its kind of fucked up that steam only adopted a refund policy once the european union...
