So about them JRPGs...

Several came out for PS3 recently: FF XIII, White Knight Chronicles, Resonance of Fate, Last Rebellion and Star Ocean: The Last Hope. Any of them worth bothering with? I don't really care if the story is dumb (unless it's offensively dumb, like the one in Enchanted Arms or FF IX), as long as combat is interesting and the world is fun to explore. Any of the games I listed deliver in these areas?

In before C&C fags making "wrong forum" jokes, herp derp.

I heard FF XIII is strong on the exploration front.

Yes indeed. I'm playing it now. The cut scenes are poor and the combat system is iffy, but apart from that its an excellent game with lots of exploration, a great crafting system and superb dialogue and Characters, especially Vanille.

I don't think there are any "current-gen" jrpgs that aren't total shit (even for people who love jrpgs)

If you want to play jrpgs, invest in a PSP. Japan isn't entirely eager to jump on the HD bandwagon and right now that's considered the "high end" platform of choice over there

Calling PST a jrpg makes me rage. It's fucking stupid.

And there haven't been any worthwhile jrpgs for years now.

How many times do we have to repeat the quote from one of the devs for PST, that FF VII and VIII were inspiration.

PST IS and forever will be a jRPG. Deal with it, and move on.

And since Dragon Warrior's developers said they were inspired by Wizardry, that makes Dragon Warrior a WRPG. :smug:

And since JRPGs took their inspiration from Dragon Quest--a WRPG--that means JRPGs are WRPGs.

I always find it's strange that there are so few Japanese in JRPG, and even those few Japanese don't look like Japanese, conspiracy?
