Eating baklava in the Sultan's divan and bringing down the Ottoman Empire because you're revolting every time a modernizing reform is about to take place. BEST DEAL!

Tbh that is a common misconception. The janissaries did not revolt when they were still taken from balkan children in blood tax. Their revolts start when freeborn muslims were started to be incorporated into the system. At first it wasn't so bad when it was a mix and then later when elders were still part of the original ethos but it got really bad in 18th century after several generations.

It became a civilian institution through out the 18th century, a mixture of a religious brotherhood, a credit union and a tradesmen guild. Nothing was left of their original discipline, zeal and valour after blood tax stopped mid 17th century.
They still had some cool spiritual aesthetic but only that.

I know that, I'm just memeing and trying to keep it short. Why do you have to destroy every joke with your autism? :(

No jokes allowed in my premises, only serious discussions with its proper demographic, cultural and historical background.

Yes, ambassadors to NoJokesman Empire often noted the silence in processions. Here a Czech visitor's account of it:

[...] And although there were some thousands of people there, nevertheless there was no shouting, no conversation, no moving hither and thither, but all stood so quietly that we could not help wondering.

There is an extremely rare journal (the author is Don Ald from the Orangian principality) that documents one of those processions as well. The description was lost, but the commentary still remains: "SAD!"

Many such cases.
