Oooh Dragon Warrior 2 finally finished? The notoriously hard NES version or a newer one? DW2 Famicom is sometimes called the hardest JRPG there is.

Was the last castle as hard as rumored or are JRPG fans casuals and should go and play some Wizardry 4?

It was the NES version, played on actual hardware even. JRPG fans are casuals and should give up their hobby. The last castle is actually easier than the penultimate dungeon, and the boss rush was a cakewalk at main character level 32, could have probably finished it 2-3 levels lower.
