Oh, did you actually end up playing DERQ2? I remember you were a bit hesitant about it.

Yea, played it and finished it. Going through NG+ now for the new events and the Pain Area. Ended up enjoying it quite a lot.

Interesting. It didn't really jive for me, combat felt worse, the environments duller. The writing also took a nosedive, the retcons were just too much. Obviously some more great 2D art and music though.

Yea, the combat is a tad different. Field bugs having almost nonexistent penalties just turned everything into a race to get Mai's agility as high as possible and have her wipe out everything with that obscenely overpowered glitch ability that gives immunity at the end. Pretty much 24/7 in glitch mode.

Also the enemy stat bloat while playing on Hard is a bit too much. The first game has some stat bloat too, but not as much as in the second. Still, Super Knockback is an absolute joy to trigger and having enemies pinballing across the battlefield at sonic speeds never gets old.
