Warcry's NWN2 site had a word with Neverwinter Nights 2's lead designer Ferret Baudoin about the finer points of the D&D rules implementations in the upcoming sequel.
5. Will you be upgrading spells to the 3.5 definitions?

Ferret: Yes, we will. There was a good stretch of time where the 3.0 Player’s Handbook and 3.5 version were always open on my desk as I tried to find all the nuance changes between the systems. Fortunately, some denizens of the web also provided frightening data on this to help. But many spells have gone through changes because of 3.5. One of the biggies is the Harm and Heal spells which now have damage and healing caps. Many of the stat buff spells have had their duration changed. And many more changes are around.
The interview also mentions an upcoming dev chat with several members of the NWN2 team which is supposed to happen January 26th at 6:00 PM PST at irc.warcry.com::6667 (irc.chatspike.net::6667) #nwn2.

1. What's hialrious is that NWN's Harm is EXACTLY like pnp 3.0 Harm yet it's the spell that gets the most flak in NWN (excpt for maybe IGMS).

2. Harm is not overpowered. People who think that are stupid.

Game over.

It should be interesting to note that The Black Hound had separate Knowledge skills, including Arcana, History, Nobility and Royalty, and Religion (there may have been more, but I don't remember for sure).
