IGN has lost the interest in the overhyped, even by the industry standards, Oblivion and switched attention to Gothic 3:

The lively setting is only made better thanks to some lovely visuals. While not everything we've been shown is mind-blowing most everything here is extremely impressive. Textures are very strong, lighting is believable, and layout and design of areas is very interesting. It's hard not to think of Oblivion when looking at this game as they're both gigantic RPGs with a ton of things going for them, but there are certainly differences to style. It's actually hard to say which of the games looks better all the time. Each seems to have advantages visually.

One way that the two differ quite a bit is in the action gameplay. The melee combat system in Gothic III is much more robust than that of Oblivion with different moves, button combos, and animations for each set of weapons. Gothic has the advantage in this arena being built as a third-person game, which eliminates some of the limitations of the primary first-person mode in melee fights. From what was shown, the combat is also much easier to use this time around. While we didn't get the chance to lay hands on the game, characters seemed to auto acquire targets well and animations were much smoother and directional attacking better.
