DoomRL successor Jupiter Hell was released on Early Access back in 2019 and has received numerous updates since. Back then developer Chaosforge said they planned to finish the game by the end of 2020, which obviously didn't happen. Today they announced that Jupiter Hell has been picked up by Polish indie publisher Hyperstrange and will launch later this year on August 5th. Here's the brief press release:

ChaosForge, the developer behind the Sci-Fi/Horror turn-based roguelike Jupiter Hell teams up with Hyperstrange (ELDERBORN, POSTAL: Brain Damaged) on the final stretch to bring the game out of Early Access on August 5, 2021!

WARSAW, February 22, 2021; Hyperstrange, Warsaw-based publisher and developer of ELDERBORN and POSTAL: Brain Damaged announced today that they’ve joined forces with ChaosForge, the developer of Jupiter Hell, to bring the fan-favorite Steam Early Access roguelike to a full release this summer. The announcement is backed up by the release of the game’s 0.9.7 version - one of the largest-scaled content updates to date - and a special week-long 20% off promo on Steam.

Set on the moons of Jupiter, the game pits a lone space marine against overwhelming demonic forces. The player will rip and tear zombies, demons and unmentionable monstrosities, using classic weaponry such as shotguns, chainguns, railguns and the trusty chainsaw. Sounds familiar? It should! Jupiter Hell is the spiritual successor to the 2002’s freeware roguelike phenomenon - Doom, the Roguelike, later renamed to DRL for obvious copyright reasons.

Powered by the custom-built Nova Engine, the game takes the classic, turn-based roguelike gameplay and puts it in a detailed and dynamic 3D, 90s flavored sci-fi environment. Jupiter Hell stays true to the staple qualities of the roguelike genre: procedural level generation, providing endless possibilities for another run, character permadeath, and brutal, yet fair difficulty level. The players will die, learn from their mistakes, and proceed to make new ones in a new playthrough. The newest update - Expanse - and the special promo, will go live on Steam today, at 10:00AM PST. Monthly updates are to be expected regularly, leading to the full release in August.

Details about the new update are available here.
