Paris, France – August 21, 2024 – Right on time for Gamescom, Microids and Savage Level are pleased to announce that the tactical RPG Flint: Treasure of Oblivion will be released on October 24, 2024, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. This announcement is accompanied by a story trailer highlighting Captain Flint’s quest and his crew, as well as the game’s unique comic book-inspired artistic style. Visitors to Gamescom will have the opportunity to experience Flint: Treasure of Oblivion in preview at the Microids/Astragon Entertainment booth, Hall 6 – Stand B060.

About Flint: Treasure of Oblivion
Get ready to embark alongside Captain Flint, his first mate Billy Bones, and his crew of sea wolves in search of a legendary treasure promising freedom and fortune.

With its original narrative using traditional comic book expression, Flint: Treasure of Oblivion invites players to immerse themselves in a historically documented pirate adventure sprinkled with fantasy elements. Flint: Treasure of Oblivion promises not only adventure but also strategic depth thanks to its turn-based combat that refreshes genre basics by drawing inspiration from role-playing and board game mechanics, particularly through dice rolls.

When players form their crew, each member brings unique skills, allowing them to tailor their strategy to their play style. During tactical phases, players can use skill and attribute cards to enhance their team members and gain an edge over opponents. Raise the sails and uncover the buried secrets in the distant lands of Flint: Treasure of Oblivion.

Flint: Treasure of Oblivion features
  • TURN-BASED TACTICAL COMBAT: A good preparation is key! Choose your crew members with unique abilities, obtain new skills, improve your dices. During the tactical phases, use cards to trigger skills and attributes and influence the fight with dice throws.
  • COMIC-BOOK NARRATIVE: Enjoy a narrative which, beyond the usual codes of comics (onomatopoeia, speech bubbles), offers players original and dynamic comic strips.
  • EXPLORATION: Discover a magnificent world, from the French city of Saint-Malo to the exotic landscapes of central America. Visit diverse environments (cities, camps, jungle, caves...) powered by Unreal Engine 5
  • HISTORICALLY-INSPIRED PIRACY WORLD: The game faithfully recreates a world of piracy, incorporating historical elements (language, costumes, weapons) making the experience even more immersive.
Flint: Treasure of Oblivion will be available on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on October 24, 2024.

I don't like pirates but I do like some things about this,

- hex-based combat
- mature art style
- stylish UI

The linearity sucks though

This looks a lot like the Expedition games. I mean both the premise, the gameplay and even the graphics.

I wonder if same devs are involved? Anyway, I will probably be playing this if it is any good.
