I didn’t think sexuality would be much of a problem in this game, and honestly, it doesn’t have to be. However, wandering through the harbor, I came across the town brothel. For 50 gold pieces, the hero can hire the services of one of the women. The hero can just ask her for information about the major side plots and then leave; however, the player is given the option to “Have fun.” Choosing this option leads to a graphic and prolonged sex scene, which would possibly get an R rating or higher in a modern day movie.

As for the game’s message, there is some drug and alcohol use, both by the hero and the NPC’s. Drinking alcohol has positive effects with no downsides, as does smoking water pipes. There are opportunities to gamble, including betting on a drinking game and interfering with the outcome by swapping water for gin. Stealing is difficult to accomplish, but when it is successful it’s always beneficial. There is little racial or gender discrimination present in the game. Class discrimination exists, but is presented in a very negative light. This game’s content is mild compared to most adventure games aimed at adults, but it has enough inappropriate moments and themes that parents should be concerned about letting young teenagers play.
The moral of the story is there are a lot of crazy people out there and the freedom of the internet aint helping.

No shit? I could see if you stole someone's white elephant, or a grenade with the pin pulled out, or an aids baby's virginity, or some items in a few other select cases that successfully stealing something might not be so beneficial. It's those unsuccessful stealings that aren't so beneficial.

A lot of the "family friendly" game review websites like to review older games. Case in point: some Christian gaming site did a review for the first Doom a little while back, and around the same time posted a review of Minesweeper. Yes, Minesweeper.

As for why, who knows? And perhaps more importantly, who cares? The posters here aren't the intended audience for those sites.

What's the problem? The exactly reverse is true - freedom of Internet means that any view could be expressed. It does not mean that the views you consider crazy should cease to exist because of some, don't know, higher enlightenment

Plains Games is a site to provide the games ratings from Christian perspective. The review is perfectly OK and balanced taking into account its target audience.

The "young teenagers" are probably jacking off each day to porn. These American moms are just so stupid and all of the politicians gain publicity by exploiting their idiotic fear. Going against nature and evolution by sheltering the children from a nipple is retarded beyond understanding.

Hmm, according to the review, Gothic 2 scores high on sexuality and profany, but low on violence and magic.
I must've been playing a different game.

The guy first sais:
"..Besides the dark imagery, blood, gore, and violence, there is also quite a bit of vulgar language in Doom 3."

Then a bit later on he sais:
"..There is no foul language in Doom 3, which is surprising for a game containing such violent content."

How good for him, lots of vulgar language, but at least there is no foul language..
Can someone please explain to me the difference between vulgar and foul laungage?

Choosing this option leads to a graphic and prolonged sex scene

How do they know that?

Quoting Allison:

What games are you playing?: Escape from Butcher Bay (at which I rock), Hitman 2 (at which I suck), Neverwinter Nights, anything Myst (can't resist it), The Punisher, Resident Evil anything.

I'm gonna assume she will be reviewing all those games. Such a fine Christian girl like Allison can't possible get a kick out of Hitman 2 and The Punisher. Unless she's related to Roqua.

God forbid games like Gothic 2 corrupt young teenagers.

If she was related to me she would have better taste in games. If any of you were related to me I'd hope you'd have better taste in games than that FPS crap all you bitches love.

After reading the Oblivion review they did it's pretty amusing they bring up the issue of drugs in Gothic but not in Oblibion. They (plaingames) should spend a couple minutes browsing ESF and it should be apparent what effect skooma has on the drug-addled minds of our youth

I haven't played Gothic 3 yet, but I imagine the "sex scene" in Gothic 3 isn't much more than what you'd see on the front cover of your mother's trashy romance novel if that at all.

Gothic3: Sex ruins everything, and it makes baby Jesus cry.
Oblivion: Oblivion reminds me of church. Hooray.

There is none that I know of and I've been speaking the king's english all my life. I'd say the reviewer is either a fucking idiot or has multiple personality disorder. I'd have to go with he's someone with multiple idiotic personality disorder.

This leads to one of the game’s biggest downfalls – the hero is fragile as a glass hammer.

NO! This is in my opinion one of the best things in Gothic 2. It is realistic that the hero is easy to kill. Better than Oblivion, where I managed to kill three town guards without any weapon before they killed me.

"After you liberate the fourth town or settlement by killing the Orcs in the town, every Orc in the game world instantly will want to kill you on sight. No, I'm serious. Even the Orcs that are working for the Hashishin people down south will attack you, and since they're guards at a Hashishin town, that means the rest of the people of that town will come after you and try to kill you as well. Never mind that you might be revered in their lands as Zuben's chosen one - some Orc apparently said you need to die and they will all come after you."

Is this fuckin' true? If it is, that's fucked up!

Well, I press SPACE and the PC goes into combat stance, and then when I click LMB he throws a punch.

Ahh.. I see. I never use space bar. I was press whatever button I have my weapons (melee or missle) in the quick slots when I plan to fight. Heh. I think i've sued space bar as well; but IIRC that draws my weapons too. Could be misremembering it though since I rarely use it./

I'll try your suggestion.
