The fatties at Blizzard just released the Beta version of their 1.10 patch for Diablo II: Lord of Destruction. Granted, I haven't tried it out - and don't intend to, as it's only functional over single player/LAN and not over Battle.net but I can safely assume that it includes most, if not all of the new in-game (that is, non-battle.net or ladder) features of the upcoming 1.10 patch for D2.

The patch comes with a uninstaller file (RevertTo109.bat) which you can use to revert to the last version of the game in order to regain access to Battle.net - so it's pretty safe for you to try out. There's no risk of having to reinstall the game, one would come to hope.

Feel free to give it a <a href="ftp://ftp.blizzard.com/pub/diablo2exp/patches/PC/LOD_Beta_110.exe">whirl</a>.
