Can we have a separate news space on main page, and maybe limit all update/patch news to one sticky thread as well? Unless it's something big, update/patch news are boring, especially when we have multiple ones in a week.

Maybe not a sticky, but maybe we just keep rebumping the original patch thread for that specific game?

Or we could just go to RPG Watch if this is the kind of thing we're interested in . . . I appreciate the work the new news posters are doing, but I see the Codex as being defined by its forums and content pieces, and so I would rather the Codex news posts be limited to things people would want to discuss. There's just not much to say about a patch for a game no one plays.

If it ever was, that could make for something interesting in a game. The player investigates things and under the many layers of obfuscation and redirection it ends up that <insert player's organisation here> is ultimately at war with itself. We are the enemy.

Hmm. Something is scratching at the back of my memory. Has a game done this before?

@cardtrick: I see. I just thought that posting patch news for indie games like DoP or Eschalon could make some folks who never heard about the game and stumbled upon our site click on one of the links and learn something about the indie projects, possibly eventually helping them with his wallet. But I agree that forum + content makes this place what it is. So I guess I should concentrate on getting more content... and I'm happy with that.

As for patching, maybe we could do a weekly newspost summarising it...

It's just my opinion, and it came off harsher than I meant. I really do think you guys are doing a good job.

I play Depths of Peril from time to time, but I already know about the patch since I check the Soldak website once or twice a day for updates. The best thing about 1.004 is the new convenant difficulty level, but since no one plays this game there is no point in continuing this post. :)

It depends on the game and the patch.
The Eschalon patch posts were quite topical and the last one got a reasonable amount of replies.

But for many others there will be less interest, so doing a "oh my patches!" summary on occasion, like baby arm does for TCancer, would suffice.

If that's really annoys a lot of people here (it doesn't annoy me personally), then I suggest consolidating all non major updates to 1-2 headlines a week. If they (the patches) are minor/not that important then the stuff should sit on them for three days (at least) and release one news item.
