A new developer diary for the Mysteries of Westgate adventure pack for Neverwinter Nights 2 has been posted at RPGVault. This time the diary is about the companions that the player will be able (hopefully not forced) to recruit.

Mysteries of Westgate features three fully developed companions, all of whom possess detailed histories and personalities. We wanted to keep them fairly grounded in terms of concept (so no half-dragon / half-solars!), but rich in complexity, and with well-rounded and realistic motivations and goals. They each have a role to play in the story, and ultimately, the conclusion to their respective tales is somewhat dependent upon the player's actions.
You can read the rest of the diary here.

Is there any chance they might fix the godawful patching system ?

when you can get the game to report to you that its version X while not all your files are actually patched even tho you used an official installation then you know you suck

is it that hard to release an executable patch that patches everything and crc check ALL files ?

isnt common sense that installing an expansion over a game causing it to report version X mean that all your freaking files are up to version X ?

Yes it's common sense, which is unfortunately lacking in the gaming industry.
Install NWN2, install MotB and then patch it (using the autopatcher). The best and fastest way I believe.

About MoW, hopefully it will be released soon. I think Obsidian started beta testing the 1.12 patch, which is supposed to include the authenticication system that will be used for the adventure pack(s), and I really hope we won't need to be online everytime we play like with the NWN1 premium mods.

that way ends up in the nwn2 oc mod files not being updated, also no internet at home, all the official instructions are "use the autopatcher", so i have to use this site, you have to dl like 12 files to patch up to date (there is a oc mod update zip for installing motb directly but nobody recomends it so i dunno if i should use it)

you can install the game in several ways, all end up with different files, oh yeah and dont forget the hotfixes for dialogue and for the fuck up they had on 1152 causing crap spells to appear in the spell book (another hotfix for that), and btw during my third attempt at installing the patcher failed and told me to "download the critical rebuilt" and gave me a site so i thought, "great a one hit patch like with nwn1" but no, there is no critical rebuilt, just a sign saying "run the autopatcher"

edit : oh and i almost forgot, you have to patch having at least 6gb free or it will fail, it will not say "not enough free space" or even check for the space needed it says something like "can't open new file"
and i read somewhere that all the crashes im having when i try to change areas might be because i have less than 15 gb of free space (15 GB!!! what the hell, at least check for free space if you need that much to run)
