Inside Mac Games has a new preview of the Mac version of Neverwinter Nights 2 to be published next week by Aspyr Media.

Wizards, orcs, witches, brash young heroes, they're everywhere these days. They're in books, movies, games, a guy can't throw a rock without hitting some fantastical creature in the face. Aren't we sick of it by now? Seriously, it's a D&D nerd's dream out there! There's always something new just around the corner. Case in point, Aspyr Media is about to whisk Neverwinter Nights 2 to Intel-based Macs around the globe. So, the question is, should anybody care? Will this game bring us anything fun and worthwhile? Is NWN2 possibly worth a mark on the calendar? How many licks does it take to get to the Tootsie Roll center of a Tootsie Pop? Let's find out...
You can read the rest of the preview here.

Linux users have Wine.

And Mac users have Rum! :P

But seriously, I know NWN had a Mac version which did pretty well so I guess Atari wants to do the same with NWN2. There's nothing bad about that.

Wine, the compatibility application to run Windows programs on Linux, now runs NWN2 version 1.05.912 with minor glitches. Nothing has been said of the toolset, but I suspect this one needs the .Net application to run as well.

NWN2 runs, NWN2 with MotB has issues. I can't get it to run on Wine myself.

Remember that Wine is not black and white, some games run on a few PCs and then don't run on others.

NWN was more successful on Linux than Mac, so that's not a valid argument either.

I have a mac. To date, I haven't bought a single mac game. I would, but they all are all half assed and/or suck.

So, NWN2 coming out on mac--after swearing it wouldn't--is news to me. however it won't include the toolset, so once again, I'm faced with a half assed game. But will it suck?
