At least, <a href="http://blogs.theage.com.au/screenplay/archives/009856.html">that's according to The Age newspaper in Australia</a>:
<br>
<blockquote>Bethesda's Pete Hines says the first-person viewpoint was chosen because "we felt this was the best way to really immerse the player in this world. You can get up close to all these iconic elements from the original game."
<br>
<br>
You can play in third-person as well, but it will be very difficult. "We have this new over-the-should third-person camera," enthuses Hines, "and it is kinda cool seeing yourself walking around in the vault jumpsuit."</blockquote>
<br>
It won't be cool if Bethesda still suck at animating things. Huzzah!

Man, that is *so* not like Oblivion - this is a whole new direction! In Oblivion it was totally impossible to play for any length of time in 3rd....oh.....wait....

Nevermind. :roll:

im surprised they didnt make the over the shoulder camera the only option, without looking at the jumpsuit you might forget you are playing fallout and not a generic oblivion with guns

Cut them a slack! They are too busy innovating, no time to get the old things straight.

The shittyness of their 3rd person camera implementation is the perfect example of Bethesda's half-arsed design philosphy. Each time they insist it'll be New&Improved, and each time it's exactly the same shitty mess. All it'd take to make it workable would be a third person cross-hair, and yet this simple addition seems to be beyond them.

Like the oh-so-iconic CHAIR seen in Vault 13? Brilliant.

Have they no pity or feelings for them that has motion sickness when playing in the first person mode as you go bobbing about the landscape?

Yeah innovating "new over-the-should third-person camera" which allows you to walk around and look cool, but makes it very difficult to play the game in 3 rd person.

That's what I call real innovation. :lol:
