Bethesda have put up another Fallout 3 site. This one is http://www.prepareforthefuture.com/. What preparations are on the site? I don't know because it was taking too long to load (buffering.... buffering.... buffering....) but GameBanshee say:

Bethesda has updated the promotional Fallout 3 site Prepare for the Future. It now offers 9 50s style promotional videos and a new interface allowing you to rewind, skip or embed videos. The videos are all followed by interactive menus to gameplay videos (short ones) or gameplay info.

Sounds vaguely interesting.

Yes the videos were very cool indeed, spent an hour browsing them. Each channel except channel 9 and the broken channel 7 allows you to play/watch something in-game.

If anything, they put in some good effort in this interactive site, a fine job indeed. ~50s feeling is spot on.

Good advertising eh? ;)

TV Guide

CHANNEL 1 : Military enlistment ad about "bullies" and how the US has to deal with them too EXTRA : Click the bomb to spin the wheel for a random video of fatman use

CHANNEL 2 : Ad for the Pipboy 3000, with Pipboy all life's answers are in sight EXTRA : Simulated pipboy interface, only works for the 3 primary tabs and 15 minor tabs

CHANNEL 3 : Promotional video for the VATS system EXTRA : Click on a body part to see multiple videos of VATS shots to that target

CHANNEL 4 : Ad for the DC Metro and it's new top of the line Protectron EXTRA : Video of the Protectron lasering some mouthy supermutants with no tickets

CHANNEL 5 : All about the Generalized Occupational Aptitude Test EXTRA : Take a mini GOAT to get a horrible career suggestion

CHANNEL 6 : Introduction to Captain Cosmos, sponsored by Pulawski Preservation Services EXTRA : A video in which we hide inside a booth and then hear supermutants discuss how they can remember fragments from "before" followed by the sounds of combat

CHANNEL 7 : ERROR IN TRANSMITION

CHANNEL 8 : DC Tourism promotion EXTRA : Ends on a cartoony map of DC, click on a location to see a video of what it's current state is (I can't wait to look around the History Museum)

CHANNEL 9 : Scrambled jumble of ads, screenshots, video, and govt propaganda, seems endlessly randomized

CHANNEL 10 : Children's programming about nuclear energy EXTRA : Picture book with cartoony versions of mutants that can be clicked on for a more realistic version

Thanks to Anani Masu.

Wow, the site is really awesome. Too bad the game will probably suck.

You can test the VATS system, kind of. Only confirms my fears it will suck. I mean if VATS works like in that test, it means you cannot miss even when you have only 32% chance to hit

EDIT: I am still going through the site.. LOL! Giving weapons to kids.

Percentages are just like in Fallout 1/2, if it's 50%, you've got 1/2 chance to hit. Gstaff said that you will always hit in these videos, the number % is irrelevant. No one wants to buffer the video 5 times as he never hit once.

The questions of the GOAT were kind of limiting. Why couldn't I just outright refuse to kill the guy my grandma tells me to? Though when I tried the second time I got Vault Chaplain, which sounds awesome. Of course you can't be a Vault Chaplain, but still.

Well, I guess we will see how it works when we finally try the game out. I somehow doubt the feeling of missing your target will feel satisfying from first person perspective and always hitting is also retarded. I liked the system in Deus Ex but VATS is completely different story. And I sure hope I can turn off the retardo slow motion camera, because the gore looks retarded and maybe it looks better without slow motion. The slow motion camera idea is altogether retarded.

I don't think you can turn it off, even though it's just 4 seconds long (the ones in these vids are taken from multiple angles). But I reckon removing or interrupting the slow mo camera is very easily modded.

And the last I heard the game won't include the editor, so the modders can go screw themselves. Knowing Bethseda they will probably make you buy the editor so you could fix their game this time.

Unique, original and very creative is what the 'prepare for the future' is.

Especially channel is great I find. You clik on a location and you go there and see what it looks like - after the fall. The images are viewed in 1950's tv-style as well.

Given weapon to kids? yes geesh and facepalm!
However, I do think that the commercial fits into the 1950's style of thinking bringing the young up to fight the glorius fight for the US against the axis of e... -ehm- I mean the bullies that want to attack the US.

Beth never sold their CS's ;) The CS will probably be downloadable after the game is released like they did with oblivion. And since it uses the same engine as Oblivion, it's very easily moddable, even without FO3's CS. I discussed this with other modders.

Fallout 3 will still be shit though

It's important to state this, you wouldn't want anyone to think you like the game now would you?

Looking forward to FO3 here, haven't played a newer game in a long time.

Well, Beth know their PR. That is pretty well done.
As a student of economics, I agree. If there is anything to "admire" (what they do is still disgusting) about Bethesda, it's their PR and Marketing.

I honestly think it's going to be a good game. Don't know about a good fallout, but as a seperate game it looks good. Either way, I need something to play.

'lulz'.

No, selling people shit and passing that shit off as good game design using underhanded methods is disgusting.
