If you've ever thought that what Fallout 3 needs is more laser mounted battle tanks, then according to xbawxlive the new Fallout 3 Operation Anchorage will be right up your ally:

It's hard to imagine anybody doing everything in Fallout 3 already, but I guess that's why they call some gamers hardcore.

IGN: The liberation of Alaska was hinted at a lot during Fallout 3. What can we expect out of that simulated battle?

Jeff Gardiner: In Operation: Anchorage the player will find themselves able to re-live the famous liberation of Anchorage from Fallout lore -- inside a simulation similar to one found along the main quest of Fallout 3. Once the player finds their way into the simulation, they'll be stripped of their resources and have to survive within the rules set up by the simulation's creators.

The Chinese red army is everywhere, and the player will first have to secure the surrounding mountain side and then fight their way into the Chinese base. The player will have to use a lot of their standard combat skills, along with several new tools that will only be available in the downloadable content. These include interactive Strike Teams under the player's command and unique armor, weapons, and other exotic gadgets.

IGN: Will any of the three downloads come with a lift of the level 20 cap?

Gardiner: Yes, the plan is currently for the third DLC, Broken Steel, to increase the level cap. This will be accompanied by new foes, perks and all of the other Fallout 3 staples our fans expect.

Anchorage, fuck yeah! In other news xbawgamer360ozsomethingorother compare Fallout 3 to the originals:

Drugs and their original names: Our great Australian friends at the OFLC thought it would be a good idea to ban the game due to its use of real life drugs such as morphine. This was a blessing in disguise as Bethesda just changed the drug names for all regions back to those of the originals, which in turn allowed for a more authentic Fallout experience.

Action Points - VATS: Bethesda keep the turn-based combat which was so vital to the isometric Fallout games before, although this time the combat is far easier than in the previous titles.

Right. Oh and ermm... Thank you Office of Film and Literature Classification for helping Bethesda stick to canon.

Xbawks morons don't know that turn-based doesn't mean a fucking boring real-time with pause with which you easily kill an enemy that can't do anything before dying.

Damn I so want devs who make multiplatforms to just go and stay at their retarded console market with retarded console gamers with their low IQ and don't release anything for PC, filling PC market with trash further.

Whoa! Evil Chinese everywhere! Behold the current US nationalistic fears projected to the post-apocalyptic era. (This is nothing against the US citizens, every nation has its actual nationalistic tendencies...)
In the original Fallout the designers actually managed to not include this.

Wrong.
In the first Fallout it says explicitly that the great war was fought by US and China.

I fear it's too late - the PC crowd is already dumbed-down. They would have to be force-fed with quality games and maybe then, after 10 years... *starts frothing at the mouth, fails a save and passes out*

Maybe because it has nothing to do with console gamers themselves, who are just scapegoats for the general dumbing down of games in order to sell more games to more people.

I play 90% of my games on a console, because after 8 hours of staring at a computer screen, I don't really want to come home and spend another 2 or 3 hours repeating that activity. I want to sit on the couch and play a mindless game on my big-screen TV. However, my favorite games are all still old PC games, and I would fucking love for some REAL turn-based games to come back out. I'm the sort of grumpy person who always bitches that most "real time strategy" games aren't strategy games at all, but rather a test of who can better micro-manage their units. I would kill for a good multiplayer squad-based, turn-based strategy game ala X-Com.

Pretending PC gamers are somehow smarter than console gamers is a fucking joke. I've met plenty of stupid PC gamers and plenty of intelligent console gamers. Hell, most "PC gamers" are either WoW players or people who fucking love the Sims.

Except back then it showed that Cain and co actually knew what the hell they were doing.

Anchorage the player will find themselves able to re-live the famous liberation of Anchorage from Fallout lore

I paused here for a good minute with mixed feelings. Is it bethesda ostensibly trying to convince people: look we know the lore and stuff? Or is there something wrong with me as a fallout fan? Because While I should prolly be getting all wet about Anchorage I'd rather relive the conversation with the Master that raped my childhood those 10 years ago. Or talk to non-treefolk Harold again. Or have one of those conversations with Renesco once more. Nostalgia glasses? Pesky things.

Once the player finds their way into the simulation, they'll be stripped of their resources and have to survive within the rules set up by the simulation's creators.

Ah, klever, my precious, so not only you'll lift the xp cap, but also take all their levels so that they can do the same shite all over again?

Action Points - VATS: Bethesda keep the turn-based combat which was so vital to the isometric Fallout games before

Should I make some kind of an Gaming Journaist Identifying Turn-Based Course with diagrams and stuff? Cattle prod might be a nice teaching aid too.
Damn why does stuff like that make me so sad?

I could have sworn that that was the entire thematic point of Fallout
