Is this game any better than Titan Quest + Expansion? From what I read TQ sucks dunkey balls, so if this isn't any better I guess I'll have to wait till D3 comes out. Which is still gonna take at least another year.

In before DarkUnderlord.

Oh, shit.

Well, Sacred 1 was released as Sacred+Plus+ including just the original game and the patch, and later as Sacred Gold with patch plus some other stuff. I wouldn't be surprised if they do the same with 2.

Wohoo! Game gets content patch!! Extra speshul announcement!!!

It's a good thing nobody pays any attention to niche/indy games, otherwise shit like that would look really fucking pathetic.

WAT? TQ is the only Diablo2-clone I bothered to finish (actually I played it for several months non-stop). The game is hard (late epic and legendary) and requires some basic tactics, the char-building is awesome, there are hundreds of unique items (which look unique in-game) etc. Sacred is a lame piece-of-shit compared to TQ.

Actually, the game was quite good (hence, Iron Lore went out of business, as is tradition) at what one'd expect from a mindless H&S: good mechanics, excellent build trees, diverse loot, good-looking locations (some very atmospheric ones), nice visuals. Although, if you do decide to try it out, don't expect the same arcade meatgrinder D3 appears to be in the footages (so far) - TQ's a more deliberate and slower-paced affair.
The only con's I've found noticeable were the fact that you could only change the gender and tunic colour of your toon (although, there are toon-swapping mods out there) and that Greece and Egypt may last a bit too long/get repetitive for some people's tastes.

Desite the flaws, I'd say TQ+IT's been one of the very few games I've actually enjoyed this century, judging by the overall impression and the aftertaste. And to answer your question: no, I did not like Sacred 2 at all (will, probably, wait for S2 Gold to try again). Although, trying to weigh one game against the other having played neither is an interesting approach... :]

From what I saw when I played the demo, no. You're probably better off installing D2 + LoD and checking out some of the recent mods that have come out for it.
There are mods for D2?! I didn't knew of that. I have it installed all the time, and I play it sometimes, online and offline.

Bah, Iron Lore is MIA now so I won't even bother buying the game. But it does look like fun if what you say is true.

Time will tell what I chose.

Here instead of playing an RPG.
TQ and IT are not bad at all, and based on its demo, an order of magnitude better than Sacred. I hoped Ascaron would do a lot better than the first Sacred (which kind of looked and played like a DS game on a PC), but S2 really comes across as a much less professional, less polished, more haphazard affair than top-tier RPGs (this includes everything from the horridly buggy initial release to the cheesiness of the character classes to the look and feel of the interface and inventory windows). It's not god awful, but it's very sub-par and borderline amateur, in my opinion. Given how grindy they are, hack-and-slash games especially need a rock-solid core design and a lot of refinement and polish to get the kind of execution they need to stand up to other games, I think.

titan quest is quite boring (way too easy, totally bland standard enemies and laughable boss fights) but there's a mod out there (lilith) that blows the original campaign out of the water. more challenging and more fun and not as linear. i suggest getting tq just because of this mod. stellar. srsly.

i haven't played sacred 2 yet, but the original (gold edition) i enjoyed more than vanilla titan quest + IT. since sacred 2 is said to be more of everything i guess i'd like it better than TQ^^

TQ is ridiculously easy, but only on the normal difficulty - epic is challenging and legendary is just pure hardcore (powerbuild or insane skills required).

But back to Sacred 2 - I bought it like a week ago (reason: I got a Christmas coupon to use in my local media-store and it's so poorly supplied that S2 was the best option).

THE UGLY:
Character animations are still lousy - the same problem as in S1. All PCs and NPCs have long poles stuck up their asses.

THE BAD:
The camera is so fucked up (all 3 modes) that I'm forcing myself to play. Fixed mode doesn't work coz most of the buildings fail to disappear if you go behind or in them; following mode spins the POV with every fucking step you take and has the same problem that the fixed one; free is the only playable - you can adjust it manually, but you can only rotate left/right and zoom (zoom pans it a bit when it's near the ground and all you can see is your char).

The enemies respawn constantly - playing it with a melee char is a total clickfest. This is also a game in which you wander a lot so...

Have I missed something? Oh yes - there's no pause. That's right - you can't even answer the phone or open the door or try to fix that muthafuckin camera (when you're in a dungeon swarmed by champion rats).

THE GOOD:
The combat techniques system is really nice - for each technique you can pick up to 3 upgrades from 6 possible. For example you can make a lightning attack (Inquisitor skill) that has longer range, slows down enemies and leeches their life. Or make your doppelganger (also Inquisitor) regenerate life, use the same techniques as you do etc.

The graphics are really nice, but also quite demanding - S2 overheats my c2d 2,2GHz, GF8700GT, 2GB laptop on mid-low settings (mind you - I have a cooling pad).

Why should I care about free content if the game is garbage in the first place?
