VideoGamesLife posted this review of Hordes of the Underdark being under impression that it deserves no less then 85%.

What elevates Hordes over its two predecessors is a narrative that engages you all the time, drip-feeding you plot threads at certain points to make you continue on your crusade and this time, the story is interesting. Hordes Of The Underdark is a fine return to form from Bioware, who we feared may have peaked with Baldur's Gate but with the huge success of Knights Of The Old Republic and an expansion for NeverWinter Nights that finally gives the solo player something to enjoy, it looks like Bioware are back to their best. Now, is there any chance of a Baldur's Gate 3 perhaps...

Yep, Baldur’s Gate 3 is coming to a game store near you conveniently bundled with Fallout 3 anytime soon.

Yeah... and maybe we'll see Master Of Magic 2 as well. Oh, and possibly the REAL Master Of Orion 3... because the one out now just sucks ass.

Yep, MOO3 was a huge disaster. Another great franchise butchered by people who had no clue about what made the original games great. I honestly tried to play, then forced myself to play because it's a MOO game, then waited for the patch hoping for a miracle, then exchanged it and played MOO 1 and 2. I don't discard old PC and keep 'em handy for the old games :)

Good plan. I have a 486/66 and a P233 that I use for old games because I hate underclocking proggies like Mo-Slo and crew. On the subject of MOO3 though, I was reading that there is a fan made mod out there that changes the game drastically and makes it more of a true sequel of the MOO series. I still have my copy of MOO3 and intend to reinstall once I can grab this mod. If you're interested, I can let you know how it plays.

Sure, I'd appreciate that, Otaku. This mod must have changed a LOT of things in order to be good though :)

Well, the thing about MOO3 is, it had potential. There was ALOT of new features they implemented into the series that are pretty kick ass. The problem however was how they implemented those features and how they affected the AI. Let's face it, the AI in MOO3 is horrid. So much so that it became too damn predictable even on impossible difficulty. To me, this is the biggest gripe about MOO3. There are other gripes, but that was the biggest. Most mods out there only changed one thing or another, never multiple targets at once. Well, someone finally took the best of the mods out there and combined them into one.

Behold the Invader Mod.

Now, just to let you know, this does not change the crappy combat engine in anyway except for AI tweaks and such. I have not found a mod out there that even touched the combat engine (which, by the way, is my second biggest gripe about the game). The link above gives a full list of what was added with the mod and what exactly it changes. Alot of graphical face-lifting concerning icons and the GUI, some AI tweaks to make it more challenging and make them build more reasonably, among others.

I have played quite a few turns into the mod and have definitely noticed differences in the AI. Not super hard, but no longer super predictable either. Alot of other changes I have noticed too, but they are explained in the list.

There is one more mod I have seen that I wish to check out. Less graphical changes than the above one, but it looked to have a couple of more AI tweaks to it. Wanna play with this current one a bit longer though as I do like the balancing he has added to the races and the governments.

Edit: You need the 1.2.5 patch for this mod.
