Standing up to seven feet tall and weighing approximately 450 pound, the Mire Troll is an imposing creature that doesn't use weapons. Instead, it simply clubs opponents with its powerful fists. It also has a thick hide, an innate immunity to toxins, and a fascinating ability that makes it even more dangerous; it regenerates health while continuing to fight. Its sole known weakness is a fear of fire. Roughly a foot shorter, the Sentinel Stalk is topped by a cap with numerous barbs. These function as projectiles, allowing the plant to hunt. It absorbs nutrients as its fallen prey decomposes.

Gamers who have played pen and paper RPGs might recall that every Game Master seems to enforce his or her own set of sub-rules, for example whether or not to require that characters must eat during the adventure and therefore must carry a suitable supply of rations with them. With Book II, we've implemented a similar system of allowing a customizable set of rules that can be chosen before the start of each game. Each rule imposes a unique set of restrictions, allowing the players to make the adventure as challenging as they prefer. The tradeoff is that the more demanding they make it, the more the system will reward them with bonuses to the quality of random loot, additional experience points, and a higher rank at the end.

There's a screenshot of the options including one where you can choose to use pre-determined seeds (avoid save / re-load on traps etc...).

And so original. They've really outdone themselves.

Really looking forward to this one.

I think the adding of "challenges" and tracked statistical ranking while not being the key reason to play the game will add alot of fun to the game.

Also added an option where you cant save if your diseased, poisoned or stoned or something like that. Being the hardcore player I am I will be using that setting.

No point in reinventing the wheel, is there?

Trolls are tactically interesting, they could have changed the name and look but that would have been stupid. You're just bitching for the sake.

The restriction on saving while cursed or diseased seems a bit much. Bleeding, poisoned or in a dangerous area, sure, but often in RPGs these curses/diseases are quite minor and you wouldn't bother to get rid of them straight away. If you didn't have magic and it would mean having to go back to a village to see a healer or cleric then I wouldn't ever use it.

BasiliskGames should separate it into two game options... short-term minor afflictions you can survive vs potentially fatal / dangerous situations.

Book I was just a graphical roguelike with all the complexity of roguelikes stripped away. A mediocre game at best. Guess they didn't feel the need to reinvent the wheel there either.

Yes, copying creatures straight of D&D is far more interesting. And course much faster than trying to do something original.

Saxon1974 this isn't aimed you but rather the whole Iron Man/Hardcore thing which I find quite amusing.

I've always though it was pretty stupid idea. The button should be pussy pink and labeled "But I have no willpower mommy." instead of something macho sounding like "iron man" or "hardcore". You can play any game in "iron man mode" if you just show some willpower and don't hit the reload button everytime something doesn't go your way.
