The first Neverwinter Nights expansion has just been reviewed by a Polish RPG portal, Valkiria Network. It scores a 8.5/10 rating and mentions no flaws about it at all, other than that "the engine got a little old". Here's a (translated) bit about what's new:

Shadows of Undrentide, as for an add-on, brings some changes. The first one we'll notice already when we create a character. We now have 5 new classes to choose from. We'll soon notice that we're not able to choose them, though. It's because they're so called "prestige classes", and we can choose them only when our character's stats are high enough to advance in such a class. Another important novelty is the ability to see and manage the inventory of our companion. From now on we won't have to throw out some items not to encumber our character. We can just give them to our henchman to carry or simply use. However, we have to remember, that our companion also won't carry everything, and there won't be any use of someone who's always 10 meters behind. Also, after installing the add-on, we can have influence on our friend's advancement, so we can decide in which class he advances. Another change, not as visible, but just as important, is better AI of both our characters, and the enemies. As for the enemies, it's worth noting that in Shadows we'll be able to fight sixteen (16!) entirely new creatures inhabiting Faerun. To even the chances, we'll get 3 new skills, and over 30 new feats at our disposal!

Yeah, managable inventory of cNPCs is definitely something we have never seen before!

I would think they meant SOU added henhcmen invntory to NWN; not that it's new to gmaing period. If they meant the latter than I agree the rveiewer is stupid; otherwise not as stupid as originally thought.
