M&B Producer, Cem Cimenbicer (real photograph) has been interviewed at strategyinformer about upcoming M&B expansion Warband:

Mount&Blade’s visuals have also been addressed, with the forthcoming expansion providing superior graphical fidelity, boasting such flourishes as high dynamic range, bloom effects, bump mapping and a far greater level of detail than before.

Strategy Informer: Have you any other future expansions planned for Mount&Blade?

Cem Cimenbicer: We have hundreds of new features for this expansion such as more combat strategies that we had never thought of before and there may be more of these added in the future. There will also be some additions to the map and the campaign mode in which you’ll be able to travel across a larger map with more cities, more armies in a more active world with better AI. There are also small additions to the moments in the map that will be added on.

You can see some of the pretty new screenshots in the article. They also mention bringing the game to consoles...

This looks nice. I might actually get into the game now. I enjoyed it back when the first demos were released, but it was a little too drab for me to make an investment. The more distinctive visuals are definitely a plus.

When this is released, will the Codex have a multiplayer clan... I mean warband?

The easy way out. Instead of improving the strategy map (adding the option of building structures like barracks to train troops off-march, add city growth, deeper city management, custom caravan routes, ambushes, etc.), and refining the numbers in the game (balancing heroes, skills, factions, units, maybe even adding advanced combat maneuvers), they're going for the quick "graphics, multiplayer & console" cash-in.

A pity. M&B'll end up being just another title in the big casual action gaming pile; it really had classic potential.

Yes, that is exactly what was said, and no other improvements are even hinted at. Are you stupid or just a really poor troll?

Shiny new graphics! YaY!

Oh well, I was hoping that they would flesh out the world more and make the game have more than just cool combat (From everything I have heard). Guess Im not going to buy this game after all.

For the reading impaired:

Re: consoles
Cem Cimenbicer: Yeah, that might be the plan moving forward, but because we’re not producing anything for consoles at the moment, it may be a possibility after the expansion pack is released.

Core gameplay features of the game didn't really improve since the early alpha versions. I'm somewhat sceptical that we'll see any major changes in the add-on either.
