A site creatively called OcPrices posted a very detailed review of KOTOR. The rating is Excellent because it’s especially genius the way Bioware have blended the turn based combat with real time!

The game is a RPG similar to the likes of Morrowind, in that you direct your character from a third person perspective (unlike Morrowind however there is no first person mode available if you wish), but with a striking difference, the combat is turn based. All the combat is based on Dungeons and Dragons style rules, familiar with Bioware's other RPG titles, which have things like saving throws, attacks, and other factors all done using multisided dice and figures.
Now before you run away screaming, thinking this sounds really dull, boring, and extremely nerdish, please stop and listen… it actually works extremely well. For starters, despite technically being turn based, actions are played out in real time and all the dice rolling and character stats for combat are worked out in the background away from your eyes.

What a waste of a perfectly good bandwidth!

I'm lost for words. 98% of past witty comments posted by the staff against these kind of blind handjobs will sum up my feelings on this one.

Carry on, agent.

or are more insulting than necessary :)

Not on this case. Comparing the game to Morrowind based on just camera angle at first when they are so different is just so stupid. Morrowind could be replaced with GTA in the first sentence and I don't think the reviewer would see anything wrong with it. And then the completely ignorant comments about turn-based.

More insulting than necessary? What part of "it’s especially genius the way Bioware have blended the turn based combat with real time!" did you miss? :)

I didn't miss any of it. But i wouldn't use, say, a generalization that gamers as a whole are morons because of one person's stupidity. That'd be overkill for the case at hand. And it would be 0,1% of the whole 2%, with the other 1,9% being the witty remarks which are too good :D

First of all, it wasn't a generalization, it was a logical conclusion of a remark that despite some criticism casual gamers wouldn't find anything wrong with KOTOR. Second, it's not the first review written by a moron, I've read way too many of those, so while one person's stupidity isn't enough to draw any conclusion, stupidity of hundreds is. Sad but true.

Yeah i've already seen it, and even commented too :) I'm not exactly against you calling people morons per se; just that some situations could have been handled with more tact. Yes, i know you didn't wrote something like "u r all morons!!! OMGWTFLOL!!!!", but you know there's something wrong when two intelligent and very critical people like EvoG and Astro also somewhat criticized it (i know i criticized it too, but i'm not intelligent).

Why? I like this place because of all the different opinions, it would be fucking boring if people agree with me every time I post something. So the fact that you, Saint, EvoG, Astro (*adds all these people to the death list :) ) disagreed and/or criticized me is great and intellectually stimulating. There is nothing wrong with it, it's the nature of things as far as I concerned. I respect every position stated in that discussion, and I really had to consider what you guys said, so it was fun, let's do it again sometime. :)

I'm sure they do. For if they didn't, the universal truth they would contain otherwise could be too much for your brain to comprehend resulting in mental meltdown and identity crisis. We wouldn't want that to happen, would we?

Um, its a roleplaying game on a computer set in the Star Wars universe. Don't know why I'd think it was nerdish.
