Rumours from Ubisoft via Kotaku:

Ubisoft chairman Yves Guillemot told a group of investors and industry executives in New York today that the publisher of Assassin's Creed is developing games in new genres for the company, including RPGs, sports, music, and fighting games.

Speaking at the BMO Capital Markets digital entertainment conference, Guillemot did not offer specifics though he did peg the release for Trackmania 2 next year.

The company is also working on a Might & Magic called Heroes Kingdoms for early next year as a fantasy MMO.

Guillemot said the company is hard at work on casual games for Microsoft's project Natal and Sony's motion controller.

He pegged the company's big three release for the first quarter of next year as Splinter Cell Conviction, Red Steel 2 and RUSE.

Mmmm... Motion control...

Fucking Ubisoft. Might & Magic would probably make a great MMO. I mean you could just bring over all the worlds in the canonical series, and you would have a massive amount of content.

Why the hell are they not making games for the Wii, then? What, did Nintendo turn its nose at their shitty games?

It's a rumor at this stage, so I'm not sure if Heroes Kingdoms is just the next evolution for Heroes of Might and Magic. Making an MMO or single player version for Might and Magic would be a very stupid decision at this time. Might and Magic should not have a tragic resurrection like Frankenstein. Diablo 3 would be out around ~ 2012 and likely still be going strong.

I still think Ubisoft is foolish if it does not implement the pre-existing content. The M&M universe should be perfect for an MMO. The M&M worlds have always been massive, and there is a valid reason for linking them all together. Plus M&M has elements of both fantasy and scifi, so it could appeal to both groups. I know Ubisoft would never listen to us, but if they did, which M&M world or worlds would you like to see included in the MMO?
