<a href=http://www.ic-games.co.uk>IC Games</a> decided to review <a href=http://www.bioware.com/games/knights_old_republic>KotOR</a> and after careful <a href=http://www.ic-games.co.uk/index.php?location=1&articleid=1281&x=348&y=9>considerations</a> decided that despite being turn-based, it's definitely a true role-playing game.

<blockquote>Before you can venture into space you have to make a character. Like most RPG you can choose gender, appearance, skills, and alignment. There are three classes to choose from: Scout, Soldier and Rogue. <u>Each features different "feats,"</u> like two-weapon fighting or sniper-shot, and "skills," like demolitions or repair. By your actions in the game you receive points for either the dark side or the light side. When you do good things, like saving someone from a gang of thugs, you gain light side points. If you kill all the thugs AND the person in distress however, then you gain dark side points. There are many choices like that in the game and that gives the game its feel.</blockquote>

OMG! I can kill the thugs OR I can kill the thugs AND the victim! Teh roel-playing!1!11. But wait, there is more:

<blockquote>The two key elements in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is the combat and the dialog. When you run into the enemy the game pauses. You then need to issue orders for your party. Should you choose to fire your blaster at the foe or should you throw a thermal detonator at him? You could also charge at him with a sword or if you happen to have a Jedi Knight with you it might be good to use the force. All the choices you make will impact the outcome of the battle, use your characters wrong, and it could end in failure.</blockquote>

OMG! Even more role-playing! I can fire my nerfed blaster or swing a sword, a trademark weapon of the Star Wars universe, or throw a thermal detonator! The choices are overwhelming!

Scratch the bit about using thermal dets. They are obscenely overpriced (2000c a pop, WTF?) and I always sold them cuz cash can be pretty scarce (especially for Light players). Other grenades are too weak to be useful past Taris. A few ion grens come in handy on Dantooine, but that's about it.

Yeah, cash is extremely rare in KOTOR. I mean you're a mission to save the freakin galaxy, you'd think they'd at least give you a small budget. Instead, all you get is snobby jedi's ushering you onto your ship.

Naaah, granades and mines ownz da game. I feel "true" Jedi, when create a mine field around my foe before the battle and then lure it into it and finish up what is left of him after. So I did with that evil-girl on Dantooin and felt pretty shitty when she called me master Jedi with high sword-wielding skills (considering the fact I did not use that damned light sabre at all).
Speaking of choice in KOTOR I would like to say some nasty words, because I HATE being Jedi. Dark or light, I did not want to be a Jedi, or even Sith..naaah..they force me to train and pick-up force skills that I do not like. They throw me into quest I dont fell need to accomplish and give me a "bond" with Bastila, which does not fit with my character - did I asked them something like that? Uh? I just wanted to play through the world of StarWars like normal inhabitant and not that DAMNED popsy Jedi. And couldnt I be just an ordinary guy with a blaster and some cradits in pockets?
Thnx God its not so bad because I can immagine my character feels unhappy about that all and is just forced to do these popsy things, dialog options are mostly nice. But, anyway...it is not so good..there's lacking something. And I couldnt say that story seems pretty logical, actually, sometimes it gives feeling of "deja vu" like character of Darth..sorr..Malok.

But, if we distance from overall game discussion, I could say this review seems bit strange and..retarded? Guys, give that poor guy a copy of Fallout, I just played it once more time and find another solution, character and way of story development, not mentioning the choice of "do I take this crapy shotgun or this nasty Gauss Rifle..? Naaahh, I'll stick with ToxicToe!"
