Another Chronicles of Ny interview. This time it's WarCry's turn to ask the developers some questions about their upcoming game. If you've paid attention to the previous interviews, and David LaRocca's comments here, then there is nothing new for you here, otherwise...

Tell us about The Chronicles of Ny. What sets it apart from other games in the fantasy RPG genre?

The idea of a fantasy setting where you are interacting with the party members as much as with the world around you is a key concept we are working towards. In every game I have seen or played, the other people that are not played by a real person are very cardboard. They are either opponents, information sources, or tools to be used. We want to give NPC’s that you meet and interact with, especially the party that you will gather together with, goals and personalities unique to each one. Your leadership of those people and the makeup of your party will determine your style of play and your success. Some people that you take in might not fit for a variety or reasons, but you won’t know until you talk with and adventure with them. Your control of them is through your dialogue and effectiveness of leadership. Hopefully, after a while, you will be able to identify them as unique and compelling characters in their own right…or maybe irritating flakes that need to be left behind for better and more effective companions. In any case, we hope each one will provoke their own independent reactions to you.
So, Dave, when can we expect to see something specific like skills and some gameplay mechanics?

Dave already mentioned some of the skills in the other topic, like leadershid, lock pick and listen, and also talked about the mechanics involving NPCs. He hasn't mentioned more but he has already stated he doesn't want to give away more, for now.

Pointing the obvious? All you know at this point that the game has leadership, lockpick, listen, climbing, haggle, and sneak. That's not much, is it? As for game mechanics, I asked Dave many questions, he gave me some answers admitting that he's being vague. So what "obvious" are you talking about?
