Jeff Vogel of <a target=_blank href=http://www.spiderwebsoftware.com/>Spiderweb Software</a> is looking for <a target=_blank href=http://www.spiderwebsoftware.com/testing/beta_test.html>testers</a> for the Windows version of <a target=_blank href=http://www.spiderwebsoftware.com/avernum/blades/index.html>Blades of Avernum</a>. Priority will be given to Blades of Exile scenario designers who'd like to port their old BoE scenarios to the new game.

I put my name in for what its worth. I doubt very much I'll have any luck, having never beta tested anything before. I have a cutting edge system and i.t. expertise but not the experience.

Vogel's games don't usually need a cutting edge computer I'm afraid. I'll apply just for the heck of it - enjoy his games to bits.

I have heard a lot of Avernum, bet havent played it though - is there any way I can get some legal demo of this game? Or, could any describe the game in a couple of words for me, please? It's not like I am in fond of fantasy setting, I prefer post-apoc and sci-fi, but non-linearity, lots of sub-quests usually are features that bring me also to fantasy RPG's. How about Avernum?

It's shareware. Just go to the Spiderweb site. The game is maybe 15MB compressed.
