greywardens.com, a site that seems to be on a holy quest to harass its visitors with as many ads as possible, conjured up another editorial, this time about the narrative dissonance between A and O.

Despire this “safe” connection and although I knew that I was in a parallel version of the Ferelden I experienced, I found myself feeling disconnected from the story, even though I started with a new character at insta-level 18 rather than imported my own. It was much harder to get immersed in Awakening than in Origins. Part of it may simply be the absence of an Origin personally suited to the character. Instead, in Awakening, every character fills the same role of Warden Commander and there is little to ease the identity process. Although the plot in Awakening is internally cohesive and is fun in its own right, its beginning makes it clear how important the narrative’s entry point is. In Origins, instead of being dropped into my role of Grey Warden, I was guided to it.

I feel genuinely sorry for everyone who had problems to immerse herself into Awakening. Keep on trying!
