RPGDot have done up a preview of German developer Silver Style's The Fall: Last Days of Gaia.

During this conversation my character ended up in the president’s army. The first thing that is needed as a new recruit is an ID card, without which it is not possible to proceed. This ID card or passport is also the second part of the character creation process. During this process it is possible to choose a date of birth, one of a variety of nationalities and the last known place the character lived in, however, these are background items and don’t change the character in any way. What does influence the character is the choice of life experience and appearance. The appearance includes choices such as strong, beautiful, ugly, small and a few others and these choices directly affect the attributes of your character. Having great looks does wonders for your charisma, whereas having a strong appearance positively influences your strength. A smaller person is harder to hit and a big person can run a lot faster.

Well, yes, but can I choose the hilt on my lightsaber? Didn't think so.

Your welcome. Personally I didn't have much interest in Fall, but some of those features (living NPCs, different solutions to quests, tactical combat moves, possible addon) make the game sound interesting.

There are no alignment issues in the game; although it is possible to take a good or evil approach to quests, this has no influence on the game itself...

Then whats the point in having it at all if it doesn't affect the way you are percieved or the quests offered.

It doesn't "have it". ;) What we're trying to say is that the game doesn't have a set "good" or "evil" path or an alignment meter or whatever...it's meant to be a harsh environment where people might do anything to survive, so the concept of good or evil is diluted. If you do something "evil" and get caught, the NPCs should react appropriately but the game doesn't set you on an evil path or give you dark points or whatnot.

This game is looking better and better. Who knows, Silver Style might actually come up with a game that doesn't suck as much as their previous work! Kind of like Paul w.s. Anderson's Aliens vs Predator.

So basically people within the immediate vicinity will react to negative actions but there is no reputation modifier.

For example, a laser pointer can be combined with a weapon to make laser equipped weapon and a piece of wire can be used with some tools to create some chain armor.

If you have the required engineering skills :D

Well, from what I heard AvP - the movie pretty much sucks. Not counting the actual fighting though, that was supposedly done ok.

I like lack of alignment. That's the kind of thing that more RPGs should have because generally, alignment is bull. Stuff like Fallout's karma to keep track of what a bastard you are can be handy, though.
