Piotr "Fallen Zen" Panasewicz" of CDProjekt asked me to post this bit about The Witcher Week:

Authors of the Witcher have prepared numerous attractions. Today is the first day of The Witcher Week devoted exclusively this promising title. For next seven days new materials concerning The Witcher will be published at www.TheWitcher.com. Among them - two brand new videos, many conceptual arts and screenshots. Moreover, the website itself will have some sections added.

Here is what the authors are planning for the first day:

- The latest main concept art presenting final appearance of the main character
- A visit at one of the darkest 'dives' in the game
- 3 brand new conceptual arts
- A new wallpaper
- Introduction of an entirely new section - The Witcheropedia.
- A start of the Czech version of our website

And if you really felt like it was not enough, there's always opportunity to visit the officially-reopen discussion board.

The Witcher is an RPG game combining dynamic action with a deep and intriguing storyline. The game uses highly modified BioWare Aurora(TM) Engine.
As for the appearance of the main character, it turned out that the character model was just a model of an NPC witcher used as a placeholder. The actual player character will look like this.

I like the concept art of The Witcher(TM). Except for the long hair.

Is there a chance we'll get to meet these ladies, reportedly of their programming team? Or just get steamy hot photos of them? I'm cool with either.

Those are game developers?!? Damnit, I knew I should have stuck with computer programming. :(

I agree it's stunning, but we'll have to wait to see how well do the animated models incorporate into the world.

I just hope it has good sound effects to go along with the graphics. My biggest qualm with games like Sacred and Kult is that the soundwork was underwhelming. When I hit someone with a hammer I expect to hear a satisfying *crunch*, just as I expect to hear a satisfying *gash* when I hear my sword hack someone's limb off or pierce their flesh. Diablo had that, as do a lot of 'high quality' titles, so I hope CD Projekt doesn't neglect the aural portion of their game as so many others have.

What's crap about the combat, exactly?

In the video's the character is just swing the sword in circles over his head. He also goes up against a spider the size of a house and just stands there whacking it while getting impaled by legs the size of his body. Overall, it didn't look to deep, though this was an early version, so hopefully it was just filler.
