Boomtown now offers their take on the recent action RPG Kult: Heretic Kingdoms.
Kult : Heretic Kingdoms is a classic isometric RPG with some modern influences. This means you’re looking at your characters from a tilted topdown view. Although there’s a good story, combat is one of the more important aspect of the game. Most of the time you’ll be fighting bad guys to complete your quests, while talking to various Non Players Characters (NPC’s for short) along the way. You’ll gradually learn why the Godslayer is so important for the Heretic Kingdoms, and why you must destroy it if necessary.
Isometric POV = RPG now? His criteria seems especially flawed given that Kult is an action RPG more than anything else.

The state of insanity.
I still consider it more RPG than alot of action RPGs out there though. And a damned good RPG at that.

Different moral ways to handle situations, different moral ways to handle dialogues, different endings depending on your moral choices throughout the game hence the "affecting the gameworld" requirement so many people here think makes an RPG, and let's not forget control of developing your character (with tons of possibilities due to the attunement system).

Has Kult been released in the US? I was looking round my local game store yesterday and I did not see it.

I have to say that it does sound more like an RPG than many supposed RPGs. Yes its an action RPG, but there are a lot of RPG elements. Only thing I don't like is that you do not get to choose your character - shes predetermined.

And I did like the comment in the review that if you learn the Firearrow attunement by using a Firebow then you can only use it with a bow, not when using a sword. Thats what I call a lesson in the bloody obvious. He could have used a better example, like only being able to use a fire attunement with a fire weapon, not just any weapon.

No.

But you can probably get it from GoGamer or GameStop or whatever that site that imports games is called. Worth it, if you're RPG starved and can't wait for Bloodlines (That's next week, folks).
