Gamatomic, a French game site, has posted a short, but extremely entertaining interview with some Metalheart guy.

Considering that many of the players waiting for the game are Fallout fans, what are the similarities between your game and Fallout, apart from the combat system?

First of all, it’s the post-apocalyptic entourage and dark cyberpunk atmosphere. But, abstracting from subtleties and stylistics of both projects, the main global similarity between Fallout and Metalheart is the extremely advanced system of characters’ generation and development. We certainly don’t understand how some RPG developers dare present the players with ready-generated characters based on a primitive system of role-playing. The avatar is like a gamer’s reflection in the game world. The players often project themselves into the avatar. Even if the character initially adheres to a plot (as it is in Lanthan’s and Cheris’s case), the gamer should have an opportunity to customize him according to his own gaming style - for example, to make him a robust fellow-expert on heavy arms, or a swift and nimble scout.
Extremely advanced, you say?

Translation: There will be three weapon skills

Call in the cryptographers! That system is WAY too advanced!

Hahaha yes advanced indeed. Simple squad-based tactics games like Silent Storm have more advanced character systems.

So, how's the demo?

It sucked so horribly that developers had to claim it wasn't really a demo, but a very early build, probably of another game.

To their credit, it wasn't a demo. It was a leaked tech demo from 2003, you can check the date on the file itself.

The guy answered vaguedly, but the screens look cool.
Hopefully they manage to get the game in good shape before release.
Wasn't this supposed to be more dungeon crawl than roleplaying ?

edit: the metalheart homepage link doesn't work.

Guys, you gotta read this, they adress the issues of the unofficial alpha and their current beta version here. Dunno if anything is credible.

In fairness you just can't look at the stats - the implant system allows for changes to your character also.

It may tweak skills and introduce a few new abilities just like D2 items do, but I doubt that it would create an "extremely advanced" system though.
