There's another review of Icewind Dale II out there, this time on Canadian Gamer. They're pretty positive about the game, and give it a final score of 82%.

Here's a look at what they had to say:

Did I eventually find the action I was seeking? Yes and no. Black Isle's idea of difficulty for Icewind Dale II is to throw an ungodly amount of monsters at your party. It isn't possible to avoid most of these monsters; once one sees you, everybody and his brother is on to you and already bearing down on you, looking to end your adventure. Many players will start asking themselves whether the game is difficult or just simply frustrating. For those who can't get enough punishment, a new difficulty mode called "Heart of Fury" is included. Everything in the game is given a greater magnitude: items, monsters, awarded experience and gold for killing monsters, and so forth. Expect your characters to easily hit the 30th level experience cap in this mode of play.

Yes, it is often the case that you end up surrounded by an insane amount of monsters. That isn't the most frustrating thing about the game though, that prize goes to the only aspect which really put me off in IWD2 - the puzzles. Shame really.
