At <a href=http://www.cdprojekt.com>CD Projekt's</a> <a href=http://www.thewitcher.com>The Witcher</a> official website, you can find three <a href=http://www.thewitcher.com/music.asp>music tracks</a> from the game, <a href=http://www.thewitcher.com/wallpapers.asp>a wallpaper</a> with a big bad wolf and the text "<b>RPG REDEFINED</b>", and <a href=http://www.thewitcher.com/konkurs.asp>a contest</a> - you have to answer 3 questions and you might win a leather mousepad, posters or Witcher novels signed by the author - <a href=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrzej_Sapkowski>Andrzej Sapkowski</a> on which the game is based. Unfortunately, the books haven't been published in English yet, so Poles, Czechs, Spaniards, Frenchmen, Lithuanians, Hungarians, Germans and Russians win and the rest of you lose.

By the way, the books (which are great, by the way, regardless of the game), will be published in English in 2006 by Victor Gollancz Science Fiction, a British publisher.

Who needs books when you gots the google?

Of course, most of the stuff I got was in some European gibberish language so it wasn't that much help to me.

Well, now Gollancz as an independent company is no more, they are a science fiction and fantasy imprint of Orion Publishing.

How many are there? I think I'm gonna have to buy them. I read one of the short stories called "Lesser Evil" and liked it a lot.

There are seven books - two short story collections and 5 novels. The story is finished, there won't be any sequels or prequels. And the translation of "Lesser Evil" from the computer game's website sucks - it was initially a fan translation purchased by CD Projekt.

Here's another short story by Sapkowski (based on the Tristan and Isolde legend):

This one is translated by another guy - he's one of the two people most likely to translate the witcher books.

Personally, I love Sapkowski's short stories (I've re-read some of them dozens of times), but got bored with the saga itself somewhere after the second novel.

Oh, an that translation of 'Lesser Evil' is nothing compared to Ausir's linguistic prowess! BEWARE.
