Played both on DOS so can't comment about versions. Didn't play Koshan much but loved BAT (and got very far in before getting stuck, probably near the end). I don't remember that many RPG elements, it really is an adventure game though with some unusual elements (BOB, combat, and so on). It's a pretty complex game. Loved the art style at the time.

I gave up on BAT 2 fairly quickly. It's one of those games that carry realism to annoying extremes : you've got to feed your character every 6-7 hours, you need to worry about the exact way you're carrying all your items, etc.
