How do I get it to work? It keeps minimizing itself whenever I start it up.

I didn't have problems like those with it under Windows XP. For the record i have WinXP Professional.

*What version of XP are you running? Home? Professional?

*Tried running it with Windows 98 compatibility mode on?

*Do you have special graphic card features on?

*Tried patching it?

XP version- Home
Tried Compatability mode for 98, no go
Switched resolution on video card to 16 bit instead of 32 bit (it made that suggestion)
Using a Radeon Pro 9700 AGP video Card.
To teh best of my knowledge, I have no 'special' graphic card features on.

That is weird. To be honest i have a problem with Torment under XP, and also have a Radeon 9700 Pro, but Torment is the only IE game i recall giving me problems.

Let me try and throw some other questions:

>Do you have the 3 or 5 CD version of Baldur's Gate?

>Did you do a full or custom install?

>Do you have a program that is enforcing refresh rates (like Refresh Force)?

I don't know how XP Home is or what kind of general problems it might give with BG. I'll keep looking around, 'tho.

resolution on my desktop is 1024x768. Also, I have the three disk version of BG, and I did full installation, and I dont see a program similar to refresh force.

Try looking for some answers here in the meanwhile.

Major, if the same problem is happening with more than one game, then it's likely an OS problem. I asked around and apparently other people think the same. Is it exclusive with those two games? If you have the chance, try testing some other IE games.

Incidentally, have you tried patching it?

I was finally able to play planescape torment. Apparently, it's in one of the sticky threads at the top of the bioware forums. Something about going into control panel, regional options, and switching off the language thing (shows foreign characters I think) or something to that effect. I havent played BG yet, but Planescape works fine after that.
