There's nothing like an official website launch. This one is Drakensang: The River of Time:

Another great adventure is expecting you at the legendary continent of heroes and myths: Betake yourself 23 years back in to the past on the river of time. Experience The Dark Eye in the times of the imperator Hal.

Meet Forgrimm and Ardo, form new friendships and discover which dark intrigues are threatening the middle empire.

Get on the way, friend and save Aventuria!
[...]
Exclusively to the start of the website you have the chance to win a three-day-testing at Radon Labs in Berlin. The winner will get the unique insights in the world of Drakensang: The River Of Time and get can actively involved in the creation of the Drankensang prequel. The winning prize includes 3 days testing at the Radon Labs, the travel costs and two accommodations.

What you have to do to win? Answer the following question with a few but convincing words: Why should YOU win the three-day-testing at the Radon Labs in Berlin?

As far as time travel goes in a fantasy gameworld, 23 years isn't exactly a lot. Mind you, "Duke Nukem 3D: Baby Stakes" does have a nice ring to it. You also get to watch mildly concerned looking man look around the screen in a mildly concerned manner. Oh yeah, competition too.

Get on the way!

Hal?

Really?

The setting was invented in the early 80s, draw your own conclusions.

Also Hal is actually a chick posing as her dead-at-birth twin brother to avoid political complications. I wonder if this poses a problem for Radon Labs, since so far they've been unable to model a woman without huge boobs.

For comparison, this would take place slightly before the old Arcania Trilogy, so a faithful rendition would include lots of Nameless One cultists and evil gobbos.

I had a boner for any game with my namesake as emperor. Then I read this. Thanks for ruining it and making me feel like a tranny-lover.

I don't think a hard-on for a gal disguised as her twin-brother is quite as bad as a hard-on for another man based solely on that man's name.

So fully voiced dialogues, character facial customization, more in depth character creation and adjustable difficulty levels all seem to address the flaws of the first game.

All that's lacking is a more interesting main story and a more developped , less combat filled, ending.

I hope they still have millions of awkwardly placed barrels and crates to tediously destroy like in the first one.

Who the fuck is going to play this game?
Did the first one have any success at all? If so, :decline:.
Seriously, that game had nothing to make it worth playing.

It wasn't as bad as the shit the "big" RPG studios in the States have put out. I think the skill and stat system has potential, though it wasn't really implemented correctly in a cRPG.

The combat was atrocious, but I still think there might be a hidden gem somewhere in this setting... though it might be REALLY hidden since I really wanted to like the first game, but failed...

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
While Drakensang was full of filler combat against mostly rats, the combat system was better than, say, NWN2, the atmosphere was good, especially in the city, and the character system was good too. It was nothing special but it was solid. I liked the story, but it was obvious that they stole a lot from the Witcher, especially in the story structure. It was the first RPG by the developers who made it, though, and it was better than what Bioware is pulling out of its ass those days, so they still have some potential.

Yes, Drakensang was better than most of the shit being churned out these days with 'rpg' on the box, which is sad in itself in a way, as Drakensang in an ideal world (of rpg gaming) would barely rate as mediocre.

/decline of the universe/ ...etc, etc
