<p>Possibly from the "who cares?" department, <strong><a title="StrategyInformer" target="_blank" href="http://www.tacticularcancer.com/system/admin/www.strategyinformer.com" name="www.strategyinformer.com">StrategyInformer</a></strong> has <a title="reviewed" target="_self" href="http://www.strategyinformer.com/pc/commandconquerthefirstdecade/review.html" name="http://www.strategyinformer.com/pc/commandconquerthefirstdecade/review.html">reviewed </a>the uber-compilation known as <strong><a title="Command and Conquer : The First Decade" target="_self" href="http://www.ea.com/official/cc/firstdecade/us/index.jsp" name="http://www.ea.com/official/cc/firstdecade/us/index.jsp">Command and Conquer The First Decade</a></strong>, rating it a solid 7.7 on the score-o-meter.</p><p>As the title implies, the recently released (10th Feb) package includes oodles of <em>C and C</em> <strike>crap</strike> value, ranging from <span class="normal"><em>Command and Conquer</em>, </span>the 1995 original, to <span class="normal"><em>Command and Conquer: Generals - Zero Hour</em>. All games have been fixed up to run on Windows XP, so now there is absolutely no reason not to indulge in maximum RTS repetitivity.</span></p><p>However, even for fanatics of this style of RTS the package is not without its faults:</p><blockquote><p><em><span class="highlighted">Command and Conquer fanatics will be
a little disappointed with the way the series has been put together.
Clearly it wasn't put together by other fanatics. The omission of the
installation sequences is a great loss, and the occasional bug makes
for some frustration.</span></em></p></blockquote><p>Apparently there is a bonus dvd as well, with some rather naff content:
</p><blockquote><p><span class="normal"><em>The concept was a great idea, but the execution is
somewhat weak if you're not a fan of a bunch of people sitting around
telling you their feelings about something. Unfortunately it feels a
bit more like a group therapy session than an exciting insight into the
Command and Conquer series.</em> </span></p></blockquote><p>Read the rest of the review <a href="http://www.strategyinformer.com/pc/commandconquerthefirstdecade/review.html" target="_blank" title="here">here</a>. </p><p> ..........</p><p>As you can probably gather, I'm not a big fan of the games. </p><p>Most of the interest for me came from the crazy movies and alternate history aspects, whilst I usually found the RSI-inducing gameplay to be a yawn-fest. </p><p>Feel free to tell me I'm wrong... </p><p>Spotted @ <a href="http://www.strategyinformer.com">StrategyInformer</a></p>

Meh. I liked C&C, RA, and RA2, but didn't much care for TS. Didn't even buy Renegade or Generals.

I don't, however, see the value in First Decade when I already have the Theater of War pack. $40 seems a little pricy for Generals and the earlier expansion packs.

Yes
Yeah, Generals is easily the worst of the series. Not counting the stupid Renegade spin-off.

Are you out of your god damn mind? Dune 2000 was even worse than Tiberian Sun.

My memories of C&C/Red Alert are limited to 70 heavy tanks on my 15 inch monitor and the lovely cliché-ridden extravagant cutscene movies. I'm pretty sure I saw Hitler in at least one cutscene.

And the impossibility of selecting multiple units in Dune 2 still haunts me whenever someone mentions the series. 'Twas great fun, though.

That was the intro. Einstein sent someone back in time to assassinate Hitler and that set off the whole series of events with the USSR being the big, bad invader instead of Nazi Germany. Something like that anyway. God, I loved Red Alert. Nothing tops the C&C series in general for cheesy FMV cutscenes (not even Wing Commander) but Red Alert took it to a whole new level.

Yeah I went back and played Dune 2000. Just Dune 2. :)
Which, if I'm not mistaken is more like Daggerfall in that it wasn't incredible, but it promised to get so much better. Unfrotunately, it didn't.
