Do you long for the days of yore, filled with swords and sorcery? Do you hear the ringing clash of steel, the iron-shod boots on crumbling stonework, and the torch's flickering light? Do you remember when surviving to level three was an accomplishment worthy of a bardic ballad? Then Crawl by Post is what you seek brave adventures. Journey into the depths of the earth for the love of profit and plunder, climb the mountain of character corpses, and claim what rightfully is your due... and don't forget your ten-foot pole.

The Northern Reaches - the edge of civilization

Balanced on the very edge of the wilderness sits the boundary of civilization, an area few wish to travel towards from the more pleasant and developed southwestern regions. Yet, still, year after year the desperate and the damned make their way, trickling into the neglected and often maligned slice of territory. They often hope to escape their fates in more civilized areas or find their destinies amid the frontier. Despite the risks and dangers, many find themselves in the profession of Adventuring, or tomb-robbing as it is called in more polite company, and some few find success in this...

In recent years caravans from Eastdale have come under attack by Orcs, Goblins, and worse. Rumors say that these bloodthirsty warbands make their lairs deep in the badlands, within caves and ruins. Whispers of vast treasures within those ruins, remnants of a long-gone race, or at least the booty of the raided caravans has begun to draw attention from those disreputable and greedy enough individuals to disregard the dangers.

To the west of the Prelacy of Middenmark, within the Dutcy of Aerik, hushed stories spread, of dead men walking in the mist of the Barrowmoor, of tombs filled with fabulous grave goods, and the horrific creatures that lay within. Already the Barrowmoor has claimed the lives of many, and no doubt will claim many more as those with no other options scramble for a chance at wealth.
Fantastic rumors from the distant northern village of Thatchum have spread southward, stories of an eerie green light atop Dwimmerhorn mountain, said to originate from the ruins of the wizarding school of Highfell, culminating in an infernal explosion that set the stone towers slowly drifting over the Great Salt Reach. Many within the Principality of Brine worry over this occurrence, fearing what may come from this dungeon now above their heads...

Gundgathol lay in ruins beneath the Eternal Mountains, over 250 years ago, a dark host rose from the depths of the Underdark to drive the Dwarves from their ancestral mountain halls. Since that time the vast underground realm has become host to all manner of monsters, Orcs, Trolls, and darker things. Undoubtedly, gems and gold lay below the Eternal Mountains, but for all those who feverishly hunt for its riches, very few return.

Greetings! I've been very interested in running a classic dungeon crawl, specifically a megadungeon, with tracking of time, consumables, and carry weight. Unfortunately my local group leans more towards games like Call of Cthulhu, and Vampire the Masquerade. So I thought to myself, why not try to get a slow but steady play by post game up and running (and justify the 4 megadungeons I've had sitting on my shelf, barely played these past few years). So, I present to you Greg Gillespie's Northern Reaches, and his four published Megadungeons. If there is some interest in this, I'd hope to have the game started within the next week or so.

The game will be utilizing the Labyrinth Lords Revised ruleset, with some choice optional rule additions from the Advanced Companion. You can view my own copies of the rulesets below and use them for Character creation, dice rolls will be done via discord, while all in-game posts will be handled here.

Barbarian class y/n?

Barbarian Class: Yes

That is, yes, except one doesn't officially exist. I know that there are some third party groups that have published their own variant Barbarian classes (similar to the above Ranger, Bard, and Paladin classes), so If you're interested in playing a barbarian I could look around for one.

I thought this version didn't look half bad from the sample page. It has basically everything you'd expect from the barbarian class (the minimal stat requirements may be a little high, and should probably be lowered by a point or two), but if we get a little more interest I'll pick it up and post it in the OP.
Yeah I picked up a copy, I can roll with this.
