Microsoft Games, Gas Powered Games and Fileplanet have teamed up to launch the multiplayer beta of the sequel to a screensaver, Dungeon Siege II. The beta is currently available for all FilePlanet subscribers and members of the Dungeon Siege II mailing list. I have yet to check it out, as I've been busy with Guild Wars (haven't we all?) but if you have nothing else to do, and you have a FilePlanet account, you can try it out here.

Well, I've attempted to play twice. I did not find it fun.

I didn't get very far and only found enemies once, however. It really doesn't give me any motivation to try and learn the game.

I wasn't expecting to like it, so maybe that's my problem.

Here's the big fuck up right off the bat

You're pigeoned holed into a linear story where you start off in a prison cell!!!!
(it's actually not the very begining of the game but reeks of you know what, lame ass Deja Vu)

At least in DS the game was non-linear, so non-linear in fact it was hardly a game.
The idea of traveling long distances on some kind of general path and finding
interesting non-related sub plots along the way is cool, it's just you need some kind of story. I'm finding they went overboard the other way this time, where as your dumb some hero saving the helpless elves from big bad orc-likes in some cliche canned melodrama (maybe I'm wrong, but that's the vibe I am getting, from all the annoying voice overs.)

Enviromental graphics are top notch, character modeling is barely (if that) better then the first game. the GUI has had a massive overhaul and there are all kinds of bells and whistles that are pretty cool, skills, powers, etc. there is way "more" going on with your character and a lots less loot raining from the skies.

The game runs excellent, camera control fluid and easy to use.

Overall- better that the first, in some ways , not in others (and that's a tough one)
I will probably buy this just for the co-op as DL looks to be a bust and I fucking hate MMORPG's.

Massive download too, 1.61 gigs keep it in mind before you go for it

They haven't really told me "what's going on" coincidentally though I did have to burn down 4 towers to complete quest number 1, OH TEH MYSTARY!!!!

Is your character an amnesiac?

thankfully no, other than the obligatory waking up "where am I?" stupidity
you're immediately aware of you past and surroundings.
I'm playing as a half-giant fighter ( a guess a step up from half orcs?)
I say great things, like " I just want to get back to my village!"
the implication is different races haves different roles in the story
which I guess is good, Humans and Half-Giants start out a prisoner of a nasty elf dominatrix type with a control collar you need removed by stopping the bad guys!
Standard schlock here, i'm more impressed that the game runs great and seems bug free
sad that in 2005 that's the measure of accomplishment.
