Support has been great for this game. It's only been out for about a week or so and already 3 patches. That being said, It was stable when released, I played the original version and never had any issues.

And as far as restarting the game, its optional and I didn't do it after installing patches because I didn't think it was enough different for a restart.

Only thing that makes me sad is I am almost finished playing it, I might actually start over again with a different type of character.

Support is another good reason to buy this game.
Also, we are going to announce the release date of the Macintosh version next week, and the Linux version is going to be closely behind that!
Great :)

How long is the game? I'm going to try the demo this weekend but nearly 30 bucks for a download-only copy of the full game seems a bit pricey...

It depends on how you play it. I have heard people say they have finished in 25 hours, however Im not sure how if you do all the quests and explore every area. I like to explore and find little interesting things here and there, and do all the quests.

Im still playing but I think Im near the ending. I am currently at about 35 hours, so it appears I will be around 40 hours when I finish it, possibly a bit longer. I thought it was well worth the cost personally. They have mentioned making the second game 2 to 3 times larger, so man that would be great.

Dude, you must play slowly. I'm pretty sure I did a majority of the quests (except for an assassination mission) and I beat it in about 22 hours (a little less). I was a bit surprised at the ease in which I dispatched the end boss, then again, I was able to tank at that point 4 or 5 of those minotaur things at once without really breaking a sweat (powergamer).
Unfortunately, i've yet to learn how to take a screenshot or I'd show you. Anyway, my stats are as follows:
Strength: 53
Dex: 12
End: 27
Spd: 22
Int: 9
Wisdom: 14
Perception:12
Concentration 8

Level 16
Sword Skill: 26
Sword of Choice: Currently a Diamond edged Claymore +3 (I modified it with Alchemy and what not). I chose a fighter with some nefarious religion, a norlander (guys with the bonus to con.)

He's a friggin tank. What I have noticed however is that after a bit with the new patch, the game won't recognize my saves, and I have to delete an old save and then put in a new one if I want to save. I can still load these tho, I just can't see what's what, you know? Hopefully, that'll get fixed in the next patch, cause I can no longer quicksave.

Hmmm, I am at 10 hours and about to get the fourth goblin key, how far am I?

Also, I am 90% sure I read from the game-maker himself that there will be a patch 1.04, and at the rate he churns them out, I'd guess it won't even be two weeks until it's released.

He also mentioned that eventually, there might be (free?) bonus content for Book 1, like a long quest involving the Underground Repository. [Remember those named vaults? Has something to do with them.]

Maybe he should just wait a while and release one big patch instead of lots of smaller ones. :P (since none of the bugs are game breaking and like the map changes need a new game started to take effect)

The new content sounds great!

A goblin key? I have been playing for the same amount of time, and I haven't even gotten ONE goblin key. Been too busy questing the land looking for things to see and do. The main story still has me going to some graveyard that I haven't even bothered with yet.

I have done the usual thing and wandered all the way to Blackwater before doing the quests east of the Rift.
All I really wanted to do was bring that daft potion to some sick guy without proper directions. West of the Salted Coast indeed! I should fucking kill that bloody priest after I complete the quest.
On the other hand, being able to travel to Blackwater whenever I want has its perks.

Did you find him yet, Claw? I bet everyone who finds him slaps his own forehead after finding out what "West of the SC region" means.

I like to rush through a game at first, and if it is good, then I will play it again nice and slow. Though I have to admit I am having more fun with Might & Magic 1 at the moment, on that Mac emulator I set up. Also, being a wizard helps tremendously; nothing ever was a challenge so far and I refuse to spend my money, so I have 15k now. The better spells aren't worth it anyway. MP/Damage-wise.

Nah, there is no point looking for him now. I just carried the crucible to Blackwater and now I'll return to Grimmhold and finish what I started. The next logical steps are finding Lilith and exploring Tangletree forest, and then I'll see.

By the way, does anyone recall which key you get for the quest to retrieve a locket from a room in Grimmhold? Because the door has been opened by goblins for me, apparently.

Strange, I do the opposite. Otoh, I often don't replay games at all, so I like to savour my first play-through. I've played 26.5 hours so far.

I've given up looking for him for the nonce. I spent too much time at a relatively low level searching the SC region and trying to get west of it, before realising I was way outclassed by the environment and should come back later.

Re: goblin keys. I was over 10 hours before I got my first. I likes to muck around.

Is the save game window blank or are some save slots partially missing? If so, go into your save game folder (My Documents\Eschalon Book I) and see if all the save folders are there. I'm not at home but I think it's "save1" to "save9" and "tmp." If one of those folders is missing, just create it.

I had this happen to me when I was mucking about with my saves. If you delete the shopkeeper file, it'll be recreated upon loading and he will have money again.

You can also do what the dying man suggested. For some sad reason you can, however, not choose to conftront X with the evidence. A missed choice/consequence here!

Found him. And yes I am currently kicking myself. :)
Fuck knows how I missed him the first time through. I guess I was distracted by the whole "go west young man!" thing.

Yep, I looked for him like a dumb moron myself, too.

By "west of" it's meant in the same area but in the western part, not next area west to it, where I was looking. :(

I feel more like kicking Mr Riegsecker.

The Quicktravel thing has completely thrown my original plans apart: Travel along the Salted Coast to the west and find the sick guy, then explore the rest of the area on the return trip, which I never made.
Best of all, the area is the least explored of all areas I've visited. That's skill, baby!

I'm happy about the development, though. I hated the priest already, maybe I'll get to kill him yet.

Yea that bugged me a bit too, I went straight back to character X to stomp on him but realized you couldn't ask him about it. I guess you could have stomped him anyway, but then would have to fight the whole town. So I guess that is an option after all!

Well, I don't care. RPGs aren't about choices and consequences anyway. Codex RPGs, games the Codex likes, like Fallout, are, but traditional RPGs aren't grounded on that. However, if it doesn't take much effort to add those things, like in this case, I don't see why not to add it. There's nothing wrong with C&C and if at all, it's gonna make the Codex luv the game, and not only old-school dungeon crawlers like me or Shagnak, I presume.

I do think the game has some flaws beyond that, but holy mother, it's damn good for an indie release.

Nope, just don't be seen. I blasted him with Fire Dart from outside the church at night.
