Bethesda's Alan Nanes did a <a href="http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/rpg/fallout3/news.html?sid=6208228">short interview</a> with GameSpot regarding the third DLC package for Fallout 3, Broken Steel.<blockquote>The story revolves heavily around the Brotherhood of Steel and its pursuit of the Enclave. After its victory at the end of the original Fallout 3 story, the Brotherhood feels that it needs to strike while the iron is hot and wipe out whatever remnants of the Enclave remain. What it discovers is that the strength of the Enclave hasn't been diminished [as much as it seemed to have been], so players become an integral part of the skirmish.</blockquote>Those Enclave sure are great at surviving the annihilation of their main forces and coming back stronger than ever.<blockquote>This was perhaps one of the toughest things for us to do when creating Broken Steel. We took great pains to make certain that the actions players made at the end of Fallout 3's original story are not completely invalidated. In fact, we took what players did into careful account and wove it into some of the quests. For example, if players decided to follow President Eden's advice and spiked the water with the Modified F.E.V., that decision will affect the Capital Wasteland and how the player interacts or perceives its inhabitants. We've also added some new decisions to the original storyline that players will be able to make to add some more variety and make the transition feel right.</blockquote>Hmmm...not bad.<blockquote>We didn't want to simply crank up the statistics of the same old enemies and call it a day; we wanted to create brand-new versions of them to give players a real sense of progression. There's some interesting stuff there. Nothing's likely to come of it, but all the same...

I have to admit that I'm intrigued by the notion of partially retconning the utterly shit end of the game.

Sounds like the package the game should have had all along. Still, I guess it's not quite too late to fix up that disastrous ending.

If a game has no ending, then it probably doesn't have any meaningful character builds, only Jack of All Trades.

This ruins all role-playing.

Exactly what I'm wondering too. It probably involves a lot of small randomly moving mirrors in the muzzle of the gun. But then again, Bethesda would never be able to come up with that explanation since the only thing they know about lasers is that they go pew pew boom.

But one has to wonder, what would a laser shotgun be good for to begin with? It's not like you're increasing the power or anything, you're just turning a precision tool into a crude, borderline effective, device.

If anything, i'm going to have to guess that the "laser shotgun" involves some sort of circulation chamber that spins all the time (which'd drain even more power) at the very front of the rifle. It'd probably look like somebody stuck an orange in a barrel.

Just my two cents.

where there something wrong with the old ordinary alternate time-line weaponry that Fallout 1-2 had?

Nice tactic have besheda now, now i can see TES:4 they will release a short game and then begin to release 20 DLC to complete the game over time, is like sell a mmo lol.

We got a look at a few new enemies on the way. The Feral Ghoul Reaver is a heavily armored ghoul, with more hit points and the ability to throw grenades.

For our new DLC after Broken Steel, we will have The Feral Ghoul Reaver Extreme, which is a ghoul wearing a power armor, with triple more hitpoints and the ability to throw guided missiles. You will also find out that there are a group of scientists working on improved Ghoul series, The Feral Ghoul Reaver Extreme MKII, which will be able to jump over long distances and spit radioactive material in addition of all the previous abilities.

We are planning the addition of The Super Duper Mutants for our next DLC, a new type of Super Mutant who won't attack you on sight and will fool you into thinking that he's intelligent and peaceful, like Fawkes, by talking to you and then attack you when you least expect it; and a new threat to the Capital Wasteland, The Super Feral Mutant Ghoul Fever, which is a new and modified strain of FEV (as in FEV-er, you know) that first turns people into super mutants, and then deteriorates them into ghouls. It will be up to the player to find a cure for the loved ones.

And you'll get Luke Skywalker as your henchman. After you find his father (middle-aged guy with a dark cape) you get the schematics to build a deathstar remotecontrol. With that you can shoot dud-nukes onto enemies in the wasteland. If you critically hit towns will grow from that spot. Every town you create that way will grow slowly over time. You will be able to influence their development with further DLC after Vader infects you and makes you a vampire (=immortal). You can then wear Power Armor Mk "Sun Screen". Every town will have special romancable ghouls and deathclaws.

but it wont be a real romance, since you will just get some dialogue and ammo everytime you see your wife/husband, no sex.
