The D.I.C.E. Summit in Vegas is the place where the major gaming media got some hands-on time with Fallout 3 - The Pitt. Here's IGN:

If you weren't thrilled with Operation: Anchorage's heavy focus on combat, you'll likely enjoy The Pitt a lot more. There's lots of dialogue, several side quests, and a bigger emphasis on exploration for this second game add-on. There are several different ways you can approach the process of getting into the slave camp. I decided to just walk up and say hi. That didn't go over so well with the slavers. And if you're worried that all of this "saving the day" business is going to turn your evil character good, don't. I found at least one place to be nasty inside of the steel mill. While the slaves sweated with steel production, one slave had carved out a niche for himself. He sells information to his captors as a snitch. Give him some juicy gossip and he'll trade you some stimpaks for the info.

Gamespy didn't have much to add, but did offer this little nugget I found amusing:

While I really enjoyed Operation: Anchorage, I agreed with Gerald's assertions that it really didn't feel like the Fallout 3 that we fell in love with late last year. This was mainly due to the fact that it felt a lot more like a straight-up shooter than an RPG, and while that's not really a bad thing, it's also not what Fallout 3 is all about.

Hey, at least there's dialog options. Not many. But they're there.

Worth the money though? I think not.

That sounds really nasty.

I wonder if I should finally knuckle down and spend some cash on Fallout 3 just for this nastiness.

The save I was given to load already had the opening parts of the quest arc completed. After downloading The Pitt, you'll find a messenger coming in search of a hero. You seem like a likely candidate, and upon accepting the quest the man brings you to a train car that delivers the two of you to Pittsburgh. Though the city is not the epicenter of nuclear war that the Capital Wasteland is, the downfall of society has turned this industrial city into a crumbling slum. A man named Ashur has risen to power and enslaved most of the local population in the process, forcing them to work in steel mills and perform other manual and dangerous labor.

Wow, these people really gobble up the lamest shit. Considering you can actually be a slaver in Fallout 2, I don't know why anyone would be satisfied with selling gossip to a snitch.
You can be a slaver in Fallout 3 too.

Well at least its something ... lets see if that is just the usual tricks from Bethsoft (having some interesting quests at the start to lure in the reviews) with the rest being the same old, same old.

It'll likely be just as bland as everything else about the game.

I do like that screen-shot of the steel mill though. It's got nice atmosphere and a good sky-box. Too bad the rest of the game isn't attractive at all.

The DLC is almost pure shooting because it's easier to implement FPS action rather than long dialogs with multiply paths and C&C. Bethesda should suffer in the 9th Circle for betrayal.

Many of those that complain about Fallout 3 haven't bothered to play it.
