[ Game -> Preview ]

The Armchair Empire has served up a lukewarm, 6 (Yes, only SIX!) paragraph plate of Medieval II: Total War previewness. There's absolutely nothing new here at all, but hey, it's news so here you go.

Interestingly,
religion will play a prominent role in Medieval II, reflecting the sway
that the Catholic Church held over Europe during the Middle Ages.
The Pope will always be watching the various nations’ behavior,
ensuring that their leaders’ policies are appropriately pious.
If players can’t keep him happy, they may very well be
excommunicated. However,
new Popes are always elected into their position, so players can try to
rig these elections, and get one of their own people into power.

FEZ 4 POPE! Oh man, I got so hot just thinking about that.

It's funny you should mention Fez.
I was thinking recently that if he was still around he would prolly be keen on helping us cover these sorts of games. And every site needs its own heretic Pope goddamnit.

Does anyone know what really happened to him?

Something with his internet service or perhaps his computer completely shutting down. He probably won't be coming back.
