Why's Alan Wake 2 such a contender? I watched a bit of it and it seemed very standard; even if people really like the story it's a bit of a weird choice for GOTY.

Diversity pandering out the ass.

The story is nothing but meta references to the studio's entire catalog. It's a 2 deep 4 u game about absolutely fucking nothing of value and with no context. They saw Alan Wake being in the lake as an ideal way to do their big Marvel style cross over and ran with it. Then made you play as a sheboon for the majority of the game.

So looking through this list, I can see that I didn't play a single game of the year award winner this year because they were all too shitty and cringe for me to buy. I bought like 3 horse games made for little girls and 5 or 6 slavic horror games made in the unity engine this year so you can get a sense of how abysmal the award winners were if someone of my low standards wouldn't even download a demo.

The steam game award nominees certainly are worthy of inclusion in this clown show of a thread: https://store.steampowered.com/steamawards/

Elaborate.
Media Outlets:
The only thing from this list I plan to try is Octopath Traveller 2.

I've got Windstorm: Start of a Great Friendship, My Riding Stables 2: A New Adventure, HORSE CLUB ADVENTURES, My Little Riding Champion and The Unicorn Princess. All these games somehow manage to induce slightly less cringe than any scene in baldur's gate 3 despite being made for children, earth's biggest fans of cringe shit.

Jagged Alliance 3 is REALLY good, guys, specially on iron mode and hardest difficulty. The mods so far are cool. I'm feeling we are getting newer content, as well, from both the devs and mods.

That said, I never played the OG Baldur's Gates

Ash isn't really much of an RPG guy. He originally came here to talk about his Deus Ex mod and seems more interested in classic first person games.
nothing prestigious about system shock clones TripJack you fucking pleb
